Solved vista keeps starting up in safe mode but still cannot use computer

If you just want to remove that HD and its difficult for you, just give a few bucks to some High School kid. You will save a lot and he or she will love the job.

LOL....ye I have done and it seems pretty easy to do .....I will open it up and have a look first before touching anything and if it seems simple enough to do then I will do it......Can I put the harddrive in any laptop or does it have to be the same type of laptop that it come out of? Reason asking is because I still have an old laptop that works and was going to throw but may put it into that one if It will go instead of undoing my husbands :-) which he is very nervous about LOL....

Every computer has different requiments, it may not fit etc. I would try to use the same make and model.
Not every HD is compatible with every Motherboard.

Hi Rich, I was able to take out the hard drive... very easy infact and placed it in husbands computer with it being same as I said before. Well unfortunately it did same in his computer so obviously the drive is defo at fault so looks like I am going to have to take it to a PC repair shop afterall and hopefully they will be able to save data and maybe fix the hard drive. Thought I would let you know how it went.
Thanks all the same ..chow for now

lottiemansion, cannot do that as cannot get into computer

Richc46, I ended up just doing a complete destructive recover back to the original setting and lose everything he did have on which he said he was not too concerned about. However I have managed to get it up and running but with a few techical errors thou...thought after completely doing a reinstall it would be fine...but nope.
So the problems that are occuring are as follows:
Error messages: sistray.exe-net framework initialization error
C:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v2.0.50727\mscorwks.dll
and

googleEULA laucher.exe - net framework
and

Lauch.exe - net framework
and

on trying to install avast this came up
C:\users\owen\appdata\local\microsoft\windows\tempory internet files\content.IES\1CQAQX1F\setup-av-free [1].exe

then tried to do a windows update but got this
Windows update error code C80003FE
clicked on get help with this error but it came up with microsoft help and support has stopped working

Did a repair computer at startup after pressing the F8 button but that seems to not have rectified it...done a windows memory diagnostic tool check but nothing came up.

Any answers to help me sort this out please....apart from putting a sledge hammer through laptop :)

Ok.....I managed to find someone who had a Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit disc and tried it on my sons faulty harddrive and hey presto it has got it back to working again...managed to download the Realtek network adapter and transfered that by usb stick to his laptop and so he can now access the internet again....still showing up with yellow signs on the ethernet driver (not working) but I dont think thats needed when wireless does it? Also yellow sign on usb mass storage device but when I go to update it it says its the correct one for computer installed but still shows up the yellow triangle thou...any ideas as to why?

Now this is weird.....each time the laptop is started it come up with a black screen saying as follows:

Smart Failure Predicted on Hard Drive 4: WDC WD1600BEVT-22ZCTO-(S1)
WARNING: Immediately back-up your data and replace your hard disk drive. A failure may be imminent

Press F1 to Continue...

Ok so I do press F1 to continue and it did used to the past couple of times start up with Windows fine and we could access the internet but now I cannot get past that page as each time I press F1 it goes to load windows and then suddenly restarts itself and so stuck yet again now...so why is this coming up and is there anything that can be done to rectify it ..cheers

Hi,

Your drive is failing more & more. So you need a new one ASAP & stop using this one NOW.

Did you create or have you got OEM (Original equipment manufacturer) recovery disks for this machine? You need them now to recover the system to "Factory issue day one". This is the easiest way to get all the install software & system drivers (Be it old ones) & then let the system update from there.
