Vista x64 Capable antivirus

I use Rising Antivirus 2007

It fully supports Vista x64. It is a hybrid 32/64bit app not a 32bit that runs well on 64. A lot of the system level components are 64bit native with common portions running on the 32bit layer. Rising Antivirus 2008 just came out here (China) but I've not picked it up yet. But since 2007 is already Vista x64 integrated I can't imagine that going backwards.

Rising is incredibly full-featured. The installer CD is a bootable live linux disc that will scan your Vista (ntfs, etc) system should you not be able to boot. The software has a function for creating a USB key of the latest definitions for use with this CD. It plugs into WLM and WinRAR as well as a lot of other software and works well. Live updates work completely.

They have websites in the US, Europe, and China. I highly recommend it. I paid about 80 RMB for it -- which is about about $12.50 US. Very worth it, works for a year.

NOD32!

X64 support and the best at detecting all the nasties. Anything else including kaspersky has always failed miserbly. And for those that use the free AVs. You think your clean. Your not! You AV just cant detect what is infecting your system. ESET has a free online scan at their website. I suggest you use it ASAP. You will probably be shocked at what you find.

I concur! I've been using Nod32 for the past 2 months or so now and I love it! I tried Kaspersky and it found way too many false positives! Nod32 did find a couple key finders, but that's OK, I wouldn't necessarily call that a false positive since someone who was unscrupulous could use it as well.....so good call.

As far as free goes, I like AVG, but NOD32 has got to be the best currently!

Just want to say thanks all, really glad I found this forum! I went with NOD32, using the free trial at the moment and will probably purchase in a month. Brand new to Vista 64, been running for about 18 hrs.

Good luck with it. Personally, I love it! Is it better than XP? Yes. If you have XP, do you need to switch to Vista? No, but it looks like MS is cutting support for XP soon, so... I just hope MS starts pushing Vista x64 more so there will be more support. That said, there is actually quite allot of support for Vista x64. I'm running most of my 32-bit programs under Vista x64 and all the important programs like burning software and antivirus...etc, all have either 64-bit support or the 32-bit programs work. I would like a really good 64-bit software firewall, but Vista's is pretty good, plus I have a router so I'm secure.

I read that Vista's service pack 1 should be out any day now.

Trend Micro has a suite called Trend Micro Internet Security Pro (2008) and one copy of it could be installed on 3 computer, with Pro services, you can Remote Lock your Files/Erase if your computer is stolen, System Tuner which removes your Temp files, your Unused Registry entires/missing registry entires, Transaction protector and a lot more. i like Trend a lot because if theres a problem with the software, it automatically revert back to the last update, and skip the update that caused it to fail/crash. and this is all in one, so i don't need to get separate AV and Firewall programs. :D

I'm also using Trend Micro Internet Security 2008, works fine and it's native 64bits. It doesn't consume a lot of resources and the scanning and updating runs in the background. It alerts you only when there is a more dangerous threat that will need your attention.
Before Trend Micro I used Norton Internet Security and Norton 360 and I was very pleased by Norton's products but I wanted something running on 64bits so there it is.

I use Windows Live OneCare 2.0, it doesn't use a lot of resources, works great on Vista 64, and as a plus it updates and scans in the background.

When I saw these post's on this subject I had to register just to make this post. Lots of you say AVG works well with vista x64. It works but it certainly doesn't work well. Every time it does a virus check I noticed that the processor temperature was going up into past 50c. I have investigated further and then noticed that I get a huge number of hard page faults when it is virus checking. I'm going to try avast.
