Visual studio 2005 in 64-bit vista

I did so and i got this message:

Windows cannot find 'G:\setup.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.

Sorry, Which suggestion did you try when you got that message?

It seems i have a similar problem. But the person in this thread was able to install vs2005 but i am not able to. In the 3rd post it says something about 'copying the files from the DVD'. Where to copy the files to?

You could try copying the files to the desktop and see if that works.

Just so you know you're not alone, there seems to be quite a few people with similar issues from what I can find, I know that's not an answer but at least you know it's not just your computer.

How about if you try this, Copy the file to your desktop, right click and go to Properties, Compatibility tab and check the box to run in compatibility mode and select xp sp2 mode, also check the run this program as administrator box, apply, OK.
Worth a try.

Are you getting any error messages? What does it say when you try to install?
Can you post a snip or screenshot of what you're seeing, Use the snippng tool and attach using the paperclip in the reply box.

Sorry but I am at a loss as to how to get that working, Unless you want to try to put it in the program files x86 and see if you can run it from there.

Do you have UAC turned off? You Have to restart to take effect, That seems to be what worked on at least one of the searches I found earlier.

You said you needed visual studio 2005 to run another program, does it have to be 2005?
Here's the beta of 2010, I don't know if that will work for you. There's also trials of 2008 on that page.

I have an installation guide for the other software which says i need 2005.... since 2005 is not working i have to go for other versions now

I don't mean to be rude here in any way, but you are sure you need Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, not Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Runtimes. Some developmental software and SDKs however, will need Visual Studio, so you are probably perfectly correct when you say that this is what you need. If however, all you are trying to do is get a game to work, then you probably need the runtimes. Can you please tell us what piece of software you are trying to get working?

I got exactly the same problem on a windows 7 64 bit machine. I need vs2005 because I develop software for a Windows CE and this needs vs2005.

If there is a solution for this problem, I really like to hear.
