What GPU's run Crysis in the highest detail?

It's not that the 260 is better, the GX2 is just way out of your price range... And it would indeed, in my eyes be quite foolish to buy two 8800GTs, if you can buy one 9800GTX+ for less and then buy another one when it's not coping for you anymore...

I just checked that motherboard and since it's an Intel chipset, you should definitedly go for the 4870 (it will run crysis at very high), because Intel chipsets only run crossfire, NO SLI..

That is a nice configuration indeed, must be a pain to be stuck with such a bad GPU... (I have the exact opposite..)

Well - the GPU I have runs fallout 3 in ultra high detail. As I said before though. its a wide open game with high textures - so it was nicely balanced. It ran at a nice FPS as well! never lagged once.

At the time - my GPU cost me £110. probably about 8 months ago I got it. I was considering getting a second one too crossfire - but if it struggles running crysis on medium (within reason) then two really wouldnt be a good idea.

Ill have a look around for the 4870 - if you have any links to... cheap ones fire away!

Sorry, my bad, the x58 chipsets do both, but the others only do crossfire I recon.. Again: correct me if I'm wrong..

Seems a little expensive for what you get to me..:s No? Here in belgium you can get a 9800 GTX+ with core 765 MHz for €139, about 110 pounds I think.. I'm not at all expert for ATI though..

that card is £99 ex VAT. But apparently... these 4850 cards are storming the market like no tommorow. Nvidia have made BIG price cuts.

Im just trying to search around to see what one is better...

Didnt see your post there - guess I needed to refresh the page.

My verdicts really have come down to the 9800 GTX+ and the Radeon 4850...

9800 GTX+ is roughly £115 - £124 (INC VAT) - £123 on the Radeon. As far as I know. Radeon is performing better.

What do you think is better?

also... just looked ... - do either of these have a power slot? GPU's that take electricity from the motherboard dont OC very well - at all if im being honest.

The 9800GTX+ does have two 6-pin power connectors, but as I told you before, if you buy one of those and you want to do sli in the future, you'll have to buy a new mobo... That said though, the GTX+ is more powerful..

If im to get that card, im sure my PC can help out with the overall performance. Never really seen myself wanting to get two GPU's - just find it more of a pain in the ass.

If compalibility with 2 x GPU's changes / fails etc - then its a waste. I prefer OC'ing one main GPU.

Think ill go for the Nvidia - but Ill still search around for a nice deal. Ill try hunt down an XFX or BFG brand, since they seem to be most praised.

Believe it or not - ive always gone for ATI.

but the prices, comparisons in performance, cooling etc... posioned without countless reviews that change here and there.

I just dont know anymore xD

well good luck, but i think if you are going to buy from anywhere, ebuyer or scan are your two best bets, xfx are quite good(ive got one) and bfg offer a lifetime warranty with all their products, but so do EVGA so the choice is yours, (youll be pleasantly surprised with XFX's way of packaging)
