What GPU's run Crysis in the highest detail?

well good luck, but i think if you are going to buy from anywhere, ebuyer or scan are your two best bets, xfx are quite good(ive got one) and bfg offer a lifetime warranty with all their products, but so do EVGA so the choice is yours, (youll be pleasantly surprised with XFX's way of packaging)

Oh ... now im paranoid... packaging? :<

If im to get that card, im sure my PC can help out with the overall performance. Never really seen myself wanting to get two GPU's - just find it more of a pain in the ass.

If compalibility with 2 x GPU's changes / fails etc - then its a waste. I prefer OC'ing one main GPU.

Think ill go for the Nvidia - but Ill still search around for a nice deal. Ill try hunt down an XFX or BFG brand, since they seem to be most praised.

If that's the case, I think you should definitedly go for the GTX 260 or 9800 GTX+, I've and XFX too and indeed you wont be able to hold yourself opening the box..:p

Eitherway, enjoy!

lmao, its nothing bad, its just surprising that a company would have such concern about gettting their products to you in one piece, and XFX are probably the only company i know who take this much care with the packaging.

So its my 18th birthday soon and the budget is possibly around the region of £100 - £200.

I've always pushed my GPU's to the limit in gaming, simply because im a sucker for high graphics... However. My GPU at the moment is the Radeon HD 2600 XT 512MB GDDR4 Diamond edition, and sadly - it cant run Crysis extremely well. It can manage Medium graphics... just about...

Yes yes, I know, its a Radeon, quite an old one it seems. Suprisingly, I managed to run Fallout 3 on the highest graphics without sweat - but its a vastly open landscape with grass and tress that dont move... yes - im referring to Oblivion, which I could run on the highest detail, but struggled very badly in nature infested landscape.

SO! this aside...

the specs of my computer are

6gig of Corsair DDR3 RAM
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 clocked at 3.2ghz (yes I will be clocking it to 3.6)
Antec 900 gaming case (if thats any cooling consolation)
ASUS P5K3 Deluxe motherboard
750W Power Socket of some sort
Artic Freezer fan

Now - ive been looking at the 9800 GX2. It is atleast twice as good as the:

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260
NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX+

etc.
_______________

Although I may sound as if im not asking for a lot (which I am xD) - any opinions about GPU's, links etc to graphcis cards that can run Crysis in Very high with 1280 x 1024 resolution, fire away!

im deeply considering the 9800 GX2.

Cerussatus out.

thanks in advance!

P.s. Buy GeForce - Compare GeForce products - look at the 9800 GX2 in comparison to others, its quite a lot.
crisis also has a requirement for a good cpu also, 455 pin p4 3.0 and x1950 pro i ran crisis and enjoyed it, lost some detail, had to tweak out tho,One large problem is all those background running progs , GET RID OF EM. turn em off etc.

this is a review from the crysis developers, Crytek on release of crysis:

What kind of performance difference will we see in Crysis between Single/Dual/Quad/ core processors?

You will see a large performance increase on multi-core processors, especially regarding the worst case frame rates during intense action sequences allowing the player to experience a more stable frame rate through out the whole game. A quad core system should provide the best gaming platform for Crysis.

What technologies, effects, enhancements etc. will we see in Crysis with the use of the multiple core processors?

The most significant enhancement is the increased frame rate but it doesn’t stop there. Multi-core systems benefit from being able to generate much more complex visual particle effects using the additional cores to offload the work from the main game code.

Will Crysis be more dependent on the GPU or the CPU?

That will depend on the settings you are running the game at. Crysis is designed to make the most of both the CPU and GPU but with enough scalability to ensure a good game play experience on older hardware as well.

Will Crysis support some kind of thread branching so it can theoretically support an unlimited amount of cores?

The engine doesn’t currently support the kind of thread batching which would scale to an unlimited amount of cores. For a small number of cores it’s proved more suitable to use a parallelization technique where individual tasks, such as physics, sound, particle calculations etc. are performed in parallel.

How is gaming processing distributed among the cores? ex: AI, sound, effects, physics

This varies based on the type of hardware you are running on. In theory the physics, sound, many of the particle systems and the game logic can all run on separate cores. In additional much of the time spent in the graphics driver can be offloaded to another core as Crysis has a very highly optimised Direct3D graphics engine.

Will the x64 version have a significant performance improvement over the x86 one?

With all others things being equal regarding hardware and driver performance then the 64bit version of Crysis will be the best performing version. The Sandbox level editor processes a large amount of data and is best run on a 64bit system.

Do you have any recommendations on other complimentary hardware to ensure maximum performance and avoid potential bottlenecks?

N/A

What is being done to accommodate those on older slow processors?

While Crysis has been optimised to allow for best possible gaming experience on high end multi core systems the game still offers an excellent experience on older hardware. Several features can be scaled back to ensure Crysis can be run well on older systems without affecting the game play experience.

How early into the games development have you been working with Crytek?

We have been working with Crytek for over 2 years to keep them updated with the latest progress in hardware development.

What benefits will gamers see as a result of your direct involvement with Crytek?

See above: frame rate stability, effects etc…

Read through a rather large article on a web page that dual core outperformed the quad core - from what they had tested. I should of looked at how old that article was though...

I would go with the new 200 series by Nvidia. I personally stay away from ATI.
