Iv just had major problems with installing vista x64.... turns out it cant be installed with mor that 2 0r 3gb of ram installed(32 bit and xp are fine)
i tried several time to make a fresh instal with all my 8GB of ram for it only to BSOD during istall on the 1st reboot....
Can any1 confirm that this wont happen in 7 x64 ?

Hi Ripbox,

The 32-bit and 64-bit both installed just fine for me with 4 GB RAM. You may need to update your BIOS after installing. Since it's 64-bit you may need to use something like a USB flash drive or fat32 partition to use to flash it with.

Running 64 bit and was running 32 for a few weeks. Runs perfect for me!

Anyone get this when trying to install Windows 7 using the image created from the ISO file downloaded today?

I downloaded Windows 7 x64 Beta from two different sources and both ISO files give this error.

The program won’t install in Virtual PC and gives error; will also give error when trying to run the installer in Vista.

It seems you do not have a 64 bit processor..

Good assumption , Now look at my system specs. I'm also running Vista 64.

I can understand it not working it VPC as it doesn't support x64 guest OS's, but it not installing on the "real" machine is very strange.

Are you burning the ISO or mounting it from within windows for the install?

Thanks for the info about VPC. So much for that ideal. As to the ISO file, I'm burning it to DVD using Roxio Easy Media Creator 10 and have used this to create many images in the past with success. Here's an image of the file and program used to burn the ISO file to disk





I just downloaded another ISO image from the link provided and will try again later. Will let you know then. Thanks.

If you burn at the lowest possible speed you should not have any problems.

Ticks me off...i spent all the time DLoading and could not apply for a key...TechNet ID was not recognised and could not be changed.
I sent an email but i'm not expecting anything other than" We're sorry but the # of keys set aside has been exceeded" or something to that effect.
I've been a subscriber for over 4 years.

That was a tremendous let down but things seems to be improving now.

MS is like a recalcitrant child we are all angry with them until they are back in the fold.

Got my bad image burn issue (http://www.vistax64.com/chillout-room/202822-windows-7-beta-3.html#post935084) & (http://www.vistax64.com/chillout-room/202822-windows-7-beta-4.html#post935309) sorted out.

Don't know what happened but the only ISO file that works for me (good image) is the one I downloaded from here https://www.microsoft.com/betaexperience/productkeys/win7-64/enus/default.aspx, which is still up and running! I even got a product key

Image now works.

PS - The images "were" burned at the lowest setting!

I want to install it as a dual boot wich seems prettie straight forward but im am unsure about how to uninstall it shud i find it unsable or other reasons...

Is there a tutorial on how to do this? or can someone explain how?

if you are running dual partitions then just delete the 7 partition...

boot from the vista dvd and click repair my computer

if anyone wants i the tutorial i can do it today...

Its obvious that 1st you need a blank partition of about 20-30 GB to install Windows 7. For this, you can shrink your existing Vista partition and make space for the new Windows. See: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/95398-disk-management-shrink-partition.html
