| Administrator | Re: User Account Control (UAC) - Elevate Privilege Level Hi cpemma, This tutorial does not turn off the UAC. It just elevates the default Administrator account so it will not get a UAC permissions prompt, but still leave most of UAC on for better security than just turning UAC off completely. Hope this helps, Shawn |

| Newbie | Re: User Account Control (UAC) - Elevate Privilege Level Hi, I use a standard account on Windows Vista Home Premium and I, unfortunately, have UAC. I tried Method 2 but it doesn't seem to work. A note that says "Error" pops up every time I try to merge the download(s) and even through the manuel way. I need help, please. Chris. |

| Administrator | Re: User Account Control (UAC) - Elevate Privilege Level Hi Chris, This will have to be done while logged on to a administrator account. It will not work from within a Standard account. It will also not elevate the Standard accounts, only the administrator accounts. Sorry, ![]() Shawn |

| Newbie | Re: User Account Control (UAC) - Elevate Privilege Level I still have to choose the Run As Administrator option for various programs to get full use, eg Command Prompt, DVD Maker or I get errors that appear to be corrected by running the app as Administrator. I thought this elevate thing effectively makes the Run As Adminstrator the default - have I misunderstood or am I doing something wrong? G |

| Administrator | Re: User Account Control (UAC) - Elevate Privilege Level Hello MadKingSoup, and welcome to Vista Forums. This only elevates the privilege level with UAC. It does not affect havng to use Run as administrator with some programs for them to work properly. ![]() Sorry, Shawn |

| Administrator | Re: User Account Control (UAC) - Elevate Privilege Level LOL, your welcome. The only way around that would be to use the built-in Administrator account instead. Administrator Account |
