Enjoyed it since I arrived here, hopefully it keeps going. I'd really hate for it to die. I'm one of the few people I know personally who love Vista, and I have no reason to move to 7 unless I were to get a new laptop or something.

I'll probably do the same, although I imagine i'll end up with 7 on a lappy(assuming it comes with it) if I decide not to wait much longer. I buy full versions of the OS.....the upgrades just don't make any sense to me, so eventually I plan on ending up with W8, full versions, on everything.

Think of it this way, the few have not upgraded to 7 and remain on this forum can truly be called THE ELITE.

Although in my opinion I prefer Seven to Vista just because it runs more smoothly than my installation of Vista on my other PC. I have nothing against Vista (well not much anyway) but do see that Windows Seven is the next step forward.

I just got into it way too late. Had XP forever until I had to upgrade mt kids old Win2k system. So I put XP on his and got Vista for myself. Only had it for about a year now, so getting 7 would be a waste of money for me. Not that I wouldn't like to get 7(which may come if I get a laptop anyway.)But for my desktop, if I build another one, i'll wait for 8.

For what I do though, much more than a laptop may be overkill. I stopped gaming a while ago and really have no need for what I use a desktop for. My main issue would be, if I get a laptop, and it comes with 7, will I really want to upgrade to 8?

A thorn by any other name pricks my finger just the same. OS major doesn't say '7' last time I looked. :cool:

It does kind of piddle me off though. Most of the fixes and work-arounds that work with Vista will work with 7. But because of the name change, it's like it doesn't count for squat. It's not the "latest."

edit: for what it's worth, this PC came with Vista 64 bit Home Premium SP1 and runs very smooth. I have no desire to put 7 on. I have another PC with 32 bit 7 and that's fine... 'cept for a few cases of shortcut icons turning to paper like good old Win98. The more things change... ;)

I noticed that too, i havnt been on here for the past week because i havnt had any thread reply emails!

Vista in my eyes; runs smooth on my pc specs. runs great on my netbook, specs are home basic, Atom CPU Z250 @ 1.33 (hyperthreading) 2.00 GB ram.

Seven in my eyes; remake of vista with a few things altered, i gotta say, it looks good, but it also looks hard to use, but i spose thats because im used to vista :rolleyes: lol.

It is kind of silly. Like people saying "on no! It's not NT 4.0 at all! It's NT 4.1!" :)

Vista got bad press because of the way pre SP1 hogged the machine. It's too bad really because Vista is a cooler name than '7'. It's like a guy and his wife have their first child. What did he name him? 1 of course. If it was twins then it would be 1 and 1 SP1.

But seriously, vista is just great, at school we are still running XP on CC3, and there no point them upgrading to Vista on CC4 because the school is shutting when my year leaves... :cry:

You can see my specs. The system is still the same as I bought it off the shelf. The only "problem" I had after setup was it took 3 or 4 runs of the Norton Removal Tool to get that off my system and clean the registry out. I only tweaked a couple of Services settings whereas on Vista pre SP1 I had to change about 20 to keep the HD from being hogged by the system. It's been very smooth.

Windows Vista :( In some ways I actually thought it was better than Windows Seven, but eh, I don't know anymore.. I have been using Windows Seven.
