Solved Has Vista bit the dust?

Vista isn't going to go away just because it's on a ton of PCs preinstalled. And the ones with at least SP1 probably work fine. No reason to spend money to update.

Windows 7 does look cool but overall I have not seen anything gripping about 7 that I must absolutely must have. It is not worth the money to me. I will stick with Vista until 8 arrives or perhaps 7 will drop in price drastically. And truly, my Vista OS runs very well.

Hated Vista at first, then learned to really love it. I upgraded to Vista just about the time SP 2 came out and have never had any serious issues. Now I'm getting up to speed on 7, that's how I found this forum--by hooking up with 7 forums.

Both forums are fantastic resourses. I've learned a lot in the short time I've been registered. Just finished a good tutorial on optimizing Vista. I've used many of the optimization techniques it recommended, but learned a few new ones I wanted to try.

I haven't started any threads yet, but I'm sure I'll get to it. So I hope you guys don't go belly up.

Again, this is a great forum.

Vista is looking like it's bit the dust as there are fewer threads running around Vista forums! There are only seven threads in the last week in the chillout sector. Is there anyone here? Make yourself known...

most of the guys who come here come with pretty basic problems , mainly new users with new operating systems on new shop bought pc's they cant use properly yet , as 7 is now shipping with all new pc's and the old vista guard are getting better at using their os the forums will get very quiet , and the 7 forums become noisy , all the newbies with shop bought pc's are getting 7 now so go there with their problems.

The techy side of vista may stay busy (the overclocking forums etc) but i think the rest will just stop dead soon

True, True. This will probably happen in the near future.. That's why I'm enjoying it while we have the activity that is here.

Nope vista aint bit the dust, I for one made a huge leap from win2k to vista, and other than a few teething problems .... egads I love vista (never thought I would utter those words).

At this point in time I see no need to upgrade to win7 (not after having forked out to buy vista ultimate retail).

I for one will be using vista until like win2k microflacid decide its shelf life has come to an end.

By then who knows what version of microflacid OS will be out there

Don't worry, you didn't offend me! To be honest, Richc46 has a more rep received than I do (and of coarse the Admins and other big cheeses!) I have received +1959 points, though I am sure Richc46 has much more (and a huge number of people have higher post counts than I do)
