problems instaling latest iTunes

I have several problems instaling various software updates the first problem involves the latest iTunes update. I get this message during instalation:

Could not open key:
hkey_local_machine32\software\classes\.m4b\openwithlist\itunes.exe
Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact support personnel.

I also have problems instaling the latest Zune 4 update and the latest Adobe reader update. Each give different messages but they have to do with privileges.

Right click the app and select run as administrator, which Vista should detect automatically for .exe's. Are you an administrator?

Frostmourne,

I try what you told me but when I right click I do not get the "open as administrator" option.

Can you go into User accounts and create another administrator account. Try if it works in that. Then move your data across and delete the administrator account that won't work.

I've posted in your otehr thread. Try sfc /scannow. If your registry is corrupted this might fix it.

sfc /scannow complete; windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations.

Can you run a full system scan with SuperAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes - updating first?

Now for some reason any other software i am able to install. I did the install, update and scanning with both programs. there were some issues found by both and were cleaned and removed. No luck installing the iTunes, Adobe reader or Zune updates.

Getting new message when thrying to upgrade to latest iTunes version. Totally different than the first one posted by myself at the begining of this thread. It reads:

"Could not open key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE32\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDLLs. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel."

I dont know if this makes any difference from the first error message but hope someone out there has an answer.
