I have tried to do that before, but for my model, I can't figure out how to take the back cover off. there are only removable panels for my hard drives, not for the fan. I have previously tried unscrewing every screw I could find on the bottom of my laptop and still couldn't get the entire panel to come off. Is there a trick to doing this for my model?

Wow. that seems very complicated XD I will give it a try when I have a few hours to kill.
I also wanted to say that now this problem is happening pretty soon after turning my computer on when the heat is still around only 70 degrees, so now i'm starting to think it may not be an overheating problem. Is there a way to possibly install a different graphics driver in case the one I have is corrupt?
I have also been getting Blue Screen of Death sometimes instead of having the screen freeze up. Leading up to the blue screen, my screen will go black and then show up again with a message saying my graphics driver has failed and has been recovered. It will do this several times and finally move to blue screen.

You cannot install drivers other than the ones that have been made by the original manufacturer.

I've tried to have a look for your driver but I can't find it at all on the ATI website  can any of you guys help me please?

Put it into a .zip file, by right clicking the file, then Send to, then Compressed zip folder

Then upload this file. You wont be able to open a .dmp file because I doubt you'll have the right software, upload it and I'll do it for you

Apparently your BSOD has been caused by atikmdag.sys, this is an ATI driver so the problem is with your graphics card driver. So try this:

1. Open the start menu
2. In the search box, type Device Manager
3. When it opens, expand the Display Adapters category
4. Right click on any entry in that category and select Uninstall
5. Reboot your computer

When windows reboots, it will see that the driver is missing and install it.

Ok so after doing that and restarting my computer it was unable yo load the drivers and soon after restarting it shut down byitself again. Now I can not turn my computer on at all. It turns itself off almost immediately after turning it on. I've tried running in safe mode but still dies. Ice also tried a system recovery by pressing f11 during start up and it got to the repair screen but then died. This last suggestion has certainly done something bad to my computer.

I have no idea why its done that, your computer should be able to run without a display driver. I've asked for some help from a few other members because I have no idea why its done that and I don't know where to go from here. Seeing as not all members are from the same time zone, you may have to wait for one of them to wake up :p

If the worst comes to the worst, do you have a Vista installation DVD?

Ok, so the problem may have gotten worse. Pretty close to throwing my computer out the window! So I tried taking my computer apart so I could clean the fan and after doing that and putting it back together, when I start it up there is nothing on the monitor.
As for installation disks, I have made back up install disks so if it comes to that I fo have them...
