explorer problem

As it works in safe mode, maybe you could ask for a bootlog from msconfig/boot
Pls attach the log.
We'll find the problem

Some stuff from grasshoper's HijackThis log that I would never leave running:

C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0\bin\jusched.exe -> Java Update Scheduler
C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\issch.exe
C:\Windows\System32\igfxtray.exe
C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmpnscfg.exe
C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmpnetwk.exe
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe

Just try disabling All the above. Don't stop em if u really use them.

Also, there r a lot of running instances of Google Desktop and Roxio. Try and stop them.

Btw, do u remember, by any chance since when this is happening? Like after installing a program or something like that?

it has been like that for a long time now, it could of been after i installed a program, not sure what it could have been though.

Boot log. -> Stores all information from the boot process in the file %SystemRoot%\Ntbtlog.txt

WOW...your bootlog shows it doesnt load lots of required system drivers :eek:

I think you will need a clean fresh install of Vista to get these problems fixed...Just update to SP1 first before adding all your other software.

There are too many required system-files not loading correctly and it would take way too long to fix them all, its just not practical todo that so its a fresh clan install.

okay, should i use the backup that vista came with and do a "backup your entire computer" and backup files aswell?

Most of your critical INF files r either gone or corrupt, as mentioned by dmex.

Have you tried the system file checker?

Open command prompt, make sure you have your Win Vista Install DVD in your drive and type "sfc /scannow" [without quotes].

Could some one please point him to the tutorial, if there is any on Vista X64?

This time make it run in safe mode, n then see what happens.

I tried "windows classic folders" and it didn't seem to change anything, same with the tutorial.

Yeah I saw his sfc log earlyier, I was stating he could have solved the problem a long time ago by just doing a clean install.

Theres no point spending this amount of time trying to solve the unsolvable, A large amount of registry corruption has occurred (many missing CLSID keys) causing this problem so instead of trying to find what keys have and havnt been deleted out of the millions included within the registry its just more convienient and more easy to follow a Clean reinstall and forget about it.
