im running 64bit vista and i bought warhead over steam and when i try to play the game it doesn't let me change out of 1024x768 resolution... i can click any other and it will bring up the message asking if i want to keep it and i say yes and it goes right back to 1024... crysis wars goes into the highest resolution fine its just warhead... i have a nvidia 9800 gts so i know it will run it

Hmmm...Have you tried updating your video drivers? And which mode are you playing in - DX9 or 10? Try switching to the other - "Games", right click "Crysis:Warhead", and choose either DX9 or 10. See what happens.

For what its worth, I have a ATI Radeon 4850 on Vista 64 and can run the game just fine @ 1280x1024.

Thanks MrNeeds.

Everytime I try to right click something and use the snip tool, my right click option disappears. :) I obviously haven't figured that part out yet - LOL

And yeah, I should have said Game Folder instead of Games.

Thanks

Something tells me you didn't install it correctly. If you don't mind, why don't you try uninstalling the game, reboot, run a registry cleaner (CCleaner is good) and Install it again using the "Run as Administrator" by right clicking on the executable file instead of letting the wizard start as soon as you insert the cd.

well i downloaded the game through steam so it doesnt install it just does it by itself...

I have never downloaded anything from steam before but I would imagine that what you download is a file that you must save on your hard drive, am I correct to assume that? If so, go to that file and if compressed, uncompress it, if this is a .exe file, right click on it and use "Run as Administrator"

Steam doesn't work that way - which is why I like having a physical disk. Steam based games tend to act a little different (don't ask as I don't have a why answer), even with patches. If you download a steam based game, you'll have also have to use a steam based patch...if one is required.

Since I don't have the steam version of Crysis:Warhead, my suggestion to him would be to check the steam forums on how to enable or swap DX options. My guess however is that this can be done through the games launch options in steam. (right the game's icon, choose properties, choose launch options, then type in DX 9? I guess??? - not sure though)

Steam Launch Options.JPG

I'm sure someone here who has the steam based version of Crysis can help out.

I will add that the one benefit of having steam is you can play your steam based games on any computer by simply loading up steam and it will download the files required to run the game(s). Bit of a nice convenience I might add. However I like having physical disks so that's what get when purchasing new games. It if wasn't for HL2, I'd never have used steam.

My 2 cents.

you could try and download the c++redist from microsofts website and see if that works but if its trying to install it and its saying that your cd drive is the hard drive then you may need to manually install it.

ok, when you try and install it, do you install default? or will it let you get far enough to choose a custom directory to install it to?

the 2005 doesn't get far enough for that it just unpacks everything then never comes back
very strange indeed, ive never encountered anything like this before, lemme check into it more, i believe it maybe something to do with the installation directory.
