While helping a poster, I learned that Adobe Flash deposits a cookie that gives it control over your webcam and mike. Think about what I am saying, gang.

This must be fixed. I just found out about it myself. Worst case scenario, cover the webcam lens. I cant believe this.

Hi Rich what are we saying here I mean this is my home office and me and my wife use it a lot if you know what I mean, they can watch us or video us without us knowing. Where do I take this to find out if they have recorded us in the privacy of my own home...

I told you about this months ago that is why I use Better Privacy add-on for FireFox as it deletes all DOM and LSO supercookies used by Flash players etc.
These are cookies that are NOT removed during a normal cookie clean.

Yes, thats it. I found out about this whole thing by researching that cookie.

You have several ways to block it, I think it can be added to the host file.
I never see it Better Privacy gets rid of it.
I think it is connected to the Java Console.
Ghostery (free add-on in firefox or Internet Explorer)will tell you what tracking cookies a site is trying to load and block them for you.

Researching the s.ytimg.com I came across this very interesting article about IT & IT'S apparent OWNER............well no surprises there then!

Did it remove DOM, and LSO Super cookies. Most cookie cleaners don't and these are the dangerous ones as they can use unlimited space and are not cleaned with CCleaner or any other cleaner that I know of. So far Better Privacy is the only thing I have found that will remove these.

Arent they removed with Temporary File Cleaner? Im not sure.

Rich introduced me to this software. I will use sparingly as it deletes all cookies even though cookies are unticked.

This is so true. Thanks for posting. We have a huge problem with this from stalkers. There are software packages out there on dodgy websites which make this process very easy. All you have to do is install it on someone's computer, and then only a moderately technical mind is required. We have had so many problems with young children being tricked into installing this software through all sorts of ways, and then a web cam on the top of a monitor in a bedroom can be a disaster. It doesn't really matter if it is a paedophile, or a bully who uploads it to Youtube and spreads it around the school, because both are really, really bad, and all too common in this lovely modern world.

We always preach to turn a webcam away, or unplug it. It is harder to turn away a laptop or monitor webcam, and people forget about them. I personally do not have a webcam. No webcam ever goes into a bedroom in my house. The webcam on my brother's monitor is not plugged in.

All of our CEOP videos show a scene of turning the webcam away.

It is one of the biggest issues for young teenagers in the modern world.

@americancritic: Since you have a daughter, it is imperative that she knows about this as well when required, not that I know her age.

I am under the impression no one can type a direct link to any software, so I read on one of the sites where and how to get the cookie flash cleaner and went about it that way.

Daughter is 25 and 11 so I told my oler daughter right away and fixed her computer.
