Adobe Air...what is it?

I just activated Adobe Reader 9 and it came with Adobe Air as a separate item in programs list. My home laptop is mainly for entertinment (games, mail, vista forum, (?)porns, etc.. ) Serious business computing is always done by secretaries in the office.

I cannot understand all the blogs about it on the net. What is it and do I need it?

Mansrm81, thanks for the link but I have come across it already plus a dozen other blogs andf I am still clueless.

All that I seem to understand is it is mainly for "developer" which I am sure I am not (because I have no clue what a developer is). I just want a simple clear advice on whether or not I should keep it (because I am liable to use it) or delete (because I probably will never use it?). BTW, it is downloadable separately (and free). Hence, I can easily delete and re-install except I really do not know what it is used for.

I don't know what to say its just another piece of bloatware and I uninstalled it cause it was no use to me.

You don't need it. Extra bull. I uninstalled it when I downloaded adobe. All I use is adobe reader, shockwave,flash. I don't use acrobat. adobe reader works fine without it for the basic use if that's all you need.

Might want to do yourself a favor and remove Reader all together and give this a try,

Foxit Software

Much lighter on resources, more options out of the gate, and opens almost instantly.

I agree, FOXIT is much better ...smaller, simpler and faster. I've been using it for a year now.

But guess what, I just found out some free porn sites require Adobe Media Player which requires Adobe air. (I regret posting this). Thus, I had to re-install it. And then I notice it has no size listed in Add/remove. What does it mean when a downloaded third party program has no size?

Lol, at least you found a use for AIR

No size reported isn't too big a deal. I have a printer driver that doesn't report size either. It's probably just not added into the code to report size, or it uses a different installer that doesn't report.
