Battery Life

Hi,

Since installing Vista the battery life of my laptop has gone down to 1hour where as it used to go for 3 hours. Is there anyway that I can extend this and have the best performace at the same time?

Hi wizkid, Vista is more resource demanding, more heat is generated which causing the fan running in full blast often. Also, there always process working on the back ground such as indexing or defrag as such. So, I guess there is not much you can do about it.

Hi Wizkid,

First thing to check is what power plan are you using

You should have an icon in the notification area which will allow you to choose between Power saving, performance and balanced, these may also be tweaked by use of Power options in control panel.

Also have a check in Mobility Centre

Battery just goes dead eventually...no matter what. But first it goes weaker before it conks out. There are some tips on how to prolong battery life, like for three yrs instead of one(lifetime), and for three hours instead of two or one per session (single charge performance). In my HP Notebook : Start > Help and Support > Learning Center > Battery information and some more when you double click power icon on taskbar

Hi,

I have been using the latpop for 30mins now and when I first turned it on its was 100% and now its 20% does this sound like the battery is dieing? Even with power saver turned on

Hi Wizkid,

Certainly doesn't sound Normal, you could try letting it completely drain and then charging for a good twelve hours without use and see if that improves matters.to be honest though I may well be on it's way out
