Solved Black screen in IE, fonts...

Was Windows installed on your computer when you bought it? If so did this CD come with the computer?

Windows Vista Home Premium was already installed from factory on this computer. And I am using a Windows Vista Home Premium CD that I use with other computers I repair. Its not the one that came with the computer, I don't know if it did - as I said its not my computer, i'm repair it for my brother's girlfriend. And I doubt she knows if she has a CD for it. Its a Home Premium CD, I don't think that would matter, would it?

You have a regular retail version of Vista, it should install. Are you booting from the CD and not the OS?

Correct. But EITHER WAY, weather I boot from a CD, or when I am in Windows and run setup.exe, it is still the same exact screens.

Already one step ahead. I have done the sfc /scannow command. It went through all the way, and that's where I rebooted. Still at the same problem. It really has to be a font issue. How do I get the fonts reinstalled! Argh!!!

There isn't any more fonts in that folder, so I can't "Install" them. Which brings me to this question.... you think if I download fonts, I don't care how many, and install them, would that work? Where can I get a zipped file of fonts?

Your specs say Seven, is the problem with Windows Seven?

No. I am on a Windows 7 laptop. The problem is on my brother's girlfriends desktop.

and post the question in the customization sub forum. I dont know if the fonts are your problem, but it will not hurt to find out. Seven Forums has customization experts

If you go to the seven forums as suggested, the are several experts there who can answer your questions. I am sure they know how to get you fonts, they may even zip their own to you.

I will post another message on the VISTA forums, since this issue is with a VISTA desktop.

Again, my i'm just typing this on my laptop - its the desktop that's an issue.

I saw your post. You may get help from that, but I think your best bet is from the people that come to help in this thread. Trust me, the people in Seven are true experts with this sort of thing. I just need someone that is a member here, too.
