Years later, same problem. I have three computers all using the same wireless LAN. Two networks are visible, one being just a D-Link range extender. Two computers still work fine on either network.
One, the Vista laptop, has recently decided to not get beyond "Identifying... (Public network)". It sees the two networks, and says it gives local access, but it will not give internet access on either.
I have downloaded a new LAN driver, uninstalled the driver to revert to factory settings, checked the registry settings, turned stuff on and off. No dice.
I started the process described on page of one of this thread, but when I input "ROUTE -f" ( or ROUTE-f or ROUTE - f) in command prompt, I get a lecture about what prompts mean, and I don't know enough to use that information.
Is anyone still using Vista who might have a suggestion?

Good grief. It had nothing to do with the laptop. The router needed to be rebooted.
