Can't get any burning software to work

Hi all

I recently bought a new laptop with Vista Home Premium 32bit and everything on it works fine. Or well, not everything lol. I can't seem to get any burning software to work :s I tried installing Nero, but it gave me a message that "another program has just been updated, so you need to restart" (or something like that). I restart and it says it again. I tried installing CDBurnerXP and it installed fine, but when I start the program, nothing happens. Program don't open or anything. I then tried installing Starburn and it also installed just fine, but when I click on Data Burning Wizard, it shows up that it's trying to find CD/DVD burners, and it keeps searching forever (or well, I waited 30 minutes and then manually shutdown the program).

Anyone know why I can't get any burning software to work ?

Welcome to VistaX64.

1. What make and model CD/DVD drive do you have? Please be specific.
2. Please look at your device manager to see if there is a question mark or exclamation point by this drive.
3. Can you read CDs AND DVDs on your drive?

To tell you the truth I don't know what make and model the burner is, but my laptop is an Acer Notebook 8930G-754G50BN, if thats any help ?

Theres no question mark whatsoever in the devide manager, and yes, it can read CD's and DVD's just fine

I looked up your system. Internal optical drive. I wanted to find out if your cd/dvd drive was able to write. How do you know it's can burn to media (the Acer Aspire literature was short of helpful)?

Well, I don't know if it's can burn to tell you the truth. But shouldn't Nero (or any of the other burning programs) install proberly anyway ? I mean, I have an external burner, så that could just be plugged in, but no really need for it since none of the programs will install properly so far

EDIT: I just found out that the drive IS a Blu-Ray plaer/DVD burner, after I looked it up where I bought it
