cod4 freezing

the problem is that cod4 freezers i ve installed the patches in order, all drivers are up to date, directx up to date but still it freezers can any 1 help thanx

Hmm...I might be able to help out a bit. Can you give me a complete, step-by-step to recreate the problem? When/where does it freeze? Always?

Looks like a pretty decent system, so I doubt that's going to be the issue. But, we'll have to see. My guess is software setting somewhere.

What other programs are running in the background?
What scheduled task have you got.
Are there anti virus programs running in the background.
Look in your error logs;

Left Click on Start Menu.
Right click on Computer and choose manage.
Click on the event viewer.
You now have loads of options to try and pin down what is happening.
Expand the error tab.
Look for things in the last 24 hours.

Put your system specs in your sig as it will save you having to type it out every time.

checked for the background programs thats fine
it happens just has i start to play after i pick my perks and gun set up
by the time i ve typed hi all the game freezes
its fine on fuels of war and unreal 3

Sounds like it might be a Punkbuster or COD4 issue. Try downloading the manual updater from PunkBuster Online Countermeasures and checking that.

Also, a reinstall of COD4 might help. Make sure you install as an admin, and that you play as an admin.

Have you tried to run it in compatability mode?
It sounds like the main game file may be causeing the problem, however as fightingscallion said it may be a punkbuster issue.

Navigate to the exe file and right click --> properties.
The compatability tab will be on the top o the menu about 3 along.

Maybe running the game in Administrator Mode might help. Sometimes Punkbuster gets cranky if it doesn't get admin access.

it is vista compatable so u dont get that option just for older versions of windows thanx any way
deltauk thanx ii noticed admin setting when i lkooked at what roy69 told me to try
so i cliked and tried it
it worked even with macaffe runing virus scan
