Solved Disaster after windows vista security update!!

This has been an ongoing issue that has yet to shine a light at the end of the tunnel!!!
I have a Toshiba Satellite L350D Laptop, its running Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit and had the sp2. Just over a month ago, I had ripped a burnt cd and had it in library, the reminder bubble popped up in the bottom right corner letting me know it had downloaded updates and the were ready for my review to install. I did this, then did the mandated shut down restart so update would be loaded and saved. Only after I tried to restart , I haven't been able to get to windows. I downloaded and did iso burn, but I believe an error had occured, cause it did system repair for 29 hours and then instructed to sd & rs, and once I did this, I can't get to see begining of cd with windows etc. I get a disk read error occured, press cntrl, alt, del. I since have received the original recovery media disks that came with laptop, but they won't boot properly.
Toshiba instructs to hold down c button and release when word toshiba appears, but it goes to windows loading files, then ms scroll bar, then c,a,del mesg. or All black and a white mouse arrow. The toshiba recovery wizard had an error code and wont load. Can anyone provide some assistance or walk me through. More details avaliable upon request but I wanted to make sure I was thorough but haven't put anyone to sleep yet. Thanks in advance!!!
Also I have run dskchk and says all ok but didn't load mesgs. at status 50.

When you boot the computer normally, What happens?
Do you hear beeps or the Vista sounds or nothing?

Try hitting f8 rapidly and quickly at boot, do you get to safe mode?

Sorry, I don't make a habit of leaving the house and my internet on/connected to a forum. Further assistance is greatly appreciated. I have cd/dvd drive as first boot. When I power on it shows toshiba screen, goes to windows loading files, then the ms scroll bar, then black with white mouse arrow, no beeps.
Next powered up while holding down c button, released when toshiba was visable per instructions on disk. Same result, windows is loading, then ms scroll bar, then black with white mouse arrow, no beeps. Third I power up and push F8 rapidly and it does the windows files, then the ms scroll, then Advanced Boot Options shows, I select "basic safe mode,(i have tried all 3) and it begins to boot all the drivers, reaches a point and says please wait, then after a bit goes to black screen, with white mouse arrow. Also The only time I have managed to get any beeps is when rapidly pressing F8 and this is the "frozen beep" like when it tells you, yes I am processing your request, you still have to wait cause I am running at maximum speed." please tell me there are still options from here?....

What you have is called a Black Screen, it goes by the initials KSOD and unfortunately there is not much more about the remedy.
You can try this
When you see the black screen, can you press CTRL+ALT+DEL or CTRL+SHIFT+ESC and get the screen to start the Task Manager?
If you can, in the task manager, select File/New Task. Type Explorer.exe in the box and click OK. Hopefully this will get things moving again.
While your computer is out of commission, be sure to check back often. I will post ideas that come to mind as will other member
If this does work, see if system restore can put you back again.

Its a no go, ctrl, alt, del natta. Same with ctrl, shift, esc. Screen stays black with movable white mouse arrow. I've powered up and go through the F keys. Sometimes I can get the restore to come up but this has the 2 choices of system recovery, and it doesnt show my windows program, but I can get to command prompt. The recovery whizard wont work I get an error code. I will keep a watch. I have an older hp desktop I can run from right now. Also is this A I need a new windows thing or a need new computer thing? Thanks again

I have been fighting my old hp desktop that I am on now has had issues, but my main concern is attempting to get my toshiba laptop up and going again. When I get the black screen, CTRL+ALT+DEL or CTRL+SHIFT+ESC does not get to task manager, or anything. I continue to get a disk read error occured, press ctrl+alt+del and it just seems like it is stuck in this cycle.
