Hi dford2201 and welcome to Vista Forums

Are you having any other problems with your PC apart from it shutting down when attempting to play a Blu-ray disk? Is it possible that your screen resolution could be causing the problem, especially if you can play ordinary DVDs?
Here is the screen resolution from your specs.

Compare it with the requirements of PowerDVDv8 (taken from the Cyberlink website).
