Hi everyone!!

I have a problem sometimes when i made a right click on random items on my computer, because while vista tries to display the right click menu an error appears saying that EXplorer has enconter a problem and must be restarted.

Sometimes does this, and sometimes not, but always when i right click an item.

Any ideas??

Thanks in advance...

Thanks a lot. I took a while to determine which shell extension was causing the problem, it was the WinAce 2.5. But now my vista is working fine.

Thank you!!

Your welcome DRX. Thank you for posting your results back.

Yeah, it can take a bit of hunting to find it with so many of them.

Hello Mynaito,

If this has just recently happened to you, then you might consider doing a System Restore using a restore point dated before this happened to see if it can fix this for you automatically.

If this is not an option for you, then the 2 links in my post above will help explain what to do the the ShellExView program. You will basically be disabling the listed Context Menu items one by one until you find out which one is causing the issue.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

My Computer

I have the same problem. Sometimes I get the error every time I right click on the desktop, other times it happens once and doesn't do it again. I looked into the shell extension program to help identify my problems source but there are so many things to disable. Seem like my effort become futile. I did however get a message after it happened a few times. I'm not sure if this helps identify the source or not. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

I just started having these issues this morning and this was a great stroke of luck to find so easily. Thanks Brink.

-----

Problem: Right-clicking .exe files in Windows Explorer would cause Windows Explorer to crash and restart.

Solution: Using ShellExView, I determined the cause to be 'Adobe PDF Link Helper'. Uninstalled Adobe Acrobat, re-downloaded and re-installed. Working great.

Hi
their are some great suggestions here and i have tried them all however i am still getting the issue, does any one have any ideas pls?

My Computer

I've had the right click crash issue for two years now and the shell viewer mentioned helped me find the culprit. It turned out to be a raw viewer developed by Arcsoft. I disabled it and the right click is back again and doesn't crash windows explorer. It takes a while to sort through the non-system shell files but I shut off 10 at a time and then was able to narrow it down until right click works. Very strange , these computers. Very happy to have the right click back again!!!
