Faulty Wireless Keyboard

My HP m9457c desk top with OEM wireless keyboard and mouse has been driving me nuts. During "normal" operation the keyboard has five (5) keys which when individually selected launch one of the following: Club hp, IE home page, mail, IE default Search page, or HP Help program. They still function when I select them...However, starting approximately 30-90 days ago, they started selecting themselves w/o my asking for them. Usually it is the HP help program that launches. Not as often comes the IE Search ( Google) pop up. This occurs whether or not I'm on the internet. Could be just playing a game or typing a letter in Word. Replaced batteries in keyboard and mouse-no fix. Not 100% certain the problem is the wireless. Avast reports no virus present. MY OS: Win Vista Home Premium 64 Bit. Need help please.

You may be having troubles with your device drivers, firmware, and/or software. Go to Device Manager by going to start / search box and type device manager and enter and then double-click on the program icon that appears. Check each device for a red x, yellow ! or white ?. These identify devices with problems (probably drivers, but also conflicts or something else). Click on each for further details and troubleshooting tips. If you need to get drivers (and you should do so for at least the keyboard and the wireless adapter (not just drivers but firmware and software as well, if applicable) and any others you have time to do - they may help in ways beyond just resolving this problem), do so from the computer vendor or device manufacturer (NOT from Microsoft Updates). Proceed as follows to get the drivers: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/ht/driverdlmfgr.htm. Once you have the drivers, you can install them through Device Manager as follows: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-device-manager-install-driver.html.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

Thanks for responding. All devices were checked and I rechecked based on your post. No problems noted. Hp d/l site has no new keyboard or mouse driver updates. I have been cautioned about using MS driver up dates other than OEM provided. Did locate a hp on line doc which covers "Support information window opens when it is not wanted". It recommended to delete the short cut key on the properties tab, which I did. Although vaguely related to my problem, I did it anyway. If this problem continues I guess I will ditch the wireless KB and get a wired one. Ironically, I purchased two identical HP PCs, and my wife's is not having this problem.:(

If your wife's is the same identical system, and they both use the same keyboards, try using the other keyboard instead. If your wife is now getting the same problems as you were on her machine, then it must be the keyboard.
