I am in trouble again, I had to replace my lap top so went for a DELL with windows 10. I would like to transfer my Firefox bookmarks from my desk top (Vista) to my lap top (Windows 10) I have copied OK from vista to usb stick as per instructed html but cant load onto lap top (windos10) Firefox.
Windows has now made EDGE the default search. Can it be done???

Hi mich:

To transfer bookmarks between Firefox browsers, backup (export) your bookmarks as a .JSON file (Bookmarks | Show All Bookmarks | Import and Backup | Backup) and then Restore (import) the .JSON file into the Firefox browser on your Win 10 machine as instructed in the Firefox support article Restore Bookmarks From Backup or Move Them to Another Computer.

30692

The instructions to export bookmarks as a .HTML file in the support article Export Firefox Bookmarks to an HTML File to Back Up or Transfer Bookmarks only applies if you want to import your Firefox bookmarks into a non-Firefox browser like Internet Explorer, etc.

Thanks Imacri, I have tried various suggested ways but nothing works I shall attempt your method later, I was at the point of giving up and just using EDGE.

Is your issue with Edge or with Firefox? I'm confused.

Go here on your Vista system-

C:\Users\"your user name"\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\cdt71rud.default\bookmarkbackups

The bookmarks for FF should be there. Note that the \Cdt............... may be different on your system.

You should be able to copy them to the same path on your Win 10 system.

Does that work?
