Do you have any Antivirus program installed and actively monitoring? Download Malwarebytes, update it and run a full scan. If you can't get there, try booting into safe mode with networking and try from there.
Yes, i have Mbam, i ran it several times and it did find some items but it did not solve the issue. I even ran Spybot S&D, and found some redirect hosts but each time i try to repair it it says "Hosts file access is denied". On top of that i cant frind the hosts file
Ouch, you got a nasty nasty virus. It will probably attempt to turn off Malewarybytes also and successfully turn it off. Try to download a program called Combofix for this virus. It was the only one that would not be shut down by this redirect virus my coworker had. He was on the phone with ESET for about an hour to resolve this virus.
Get Combofix here:
I did not fix it, i went to windowsbbs.com (not advertising another site, answering a question) and asked for help. Only Malware analysts and admins can post. Not only did they get rid of the redirection, they also got rid of many viruses i did not know that existed on my computer. So if you cant get your question solved here then go to Windows BBS (again not advertising)
I just want to say that I had the same problem and I ran Combofix and it resolved the issue. I want to add that windowsbbs.com is a really helpful web page since if you run into problems someone can guide you through what to do. Initially, I called McAfee to ask why I got a virus if I had Virus protection and they said they could delete it for me for $89.95. I ran Combofix for FREE & it solved my problem! In order for the Combofix to run you need to disable your antivirus program. I am kind of computer illiterate when it comes to tech issues and I was able to do it with no problem.
You should not be using Combofix unless instructed to do so by a Malware Removal Expert. It is a powerful tool intended by its creator to be "used under the guidance and supervision of an expert", NOT for general public or personal use. Combofix was never meant to be used as a general purpose malware scanner like SuperAntispyware or Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. Using this tool incorrectly could lead to disastrous problems with your operating system such as preventing it from ever starting again. Please read Combofix's Disclaimer.
Note if you find ComboFix unavailable: There may be times when the developer will remove ComboFix in order to update or fix reported bugs so the tool may be unavailable for download.
Never attempt to download ComboFix from sites other than BleepingComputer.com and Forospyware.com!
Other sites hosting ComboFix are not authorized mirrors and are hosting outdated copies of ComboFix. These outdated copies can contain bugs that may render some machines unbootable. Using unauthorized mirrors of ComboFix puts your computer at risk of not booting again. Always wait wait for the official version to be fixed and released again.
