Solved google toolbar

I seem to have lost my google toolbar, I downloaded it again and it told me
that it was installed, but I still can not see it, can anyone please help

Lets try several things
Type google in search and see if it comes up
If not
Download and run ccleaner to remove any remnants.
Then try to download again.

Have you checked if the toolbar shows in the toolbars menu?

you mention ccleaner in your reply, can you tell me how safe this programme and
which boxes i can use safely to clean my machine.
i do not think that i will be using it as a registry cleaner, but i would like to use it to clean up other files on my computer.

Download it,
Make sure that you untick all the registry entries.

And you should be OK. Make sure that you understand how to make sure that your important cookies are not deleted. If they are deleted, there is no problem, you will not be recognized on your favorite pages. You may have to sign in again, etc.
I use it, too, and am very happy.

Ok its easy
Go to options
Cookies

On the cookies page, you will see two boxes
One is for the cookies that you do not want the other is for the ones that you want.
Make the proper changes.
Then in either box right click and say ok to intelligent scan.
Now your cookies will be safe, you will not have to sign in again to websites, mail etc.

I have a list of cookies not to keep in the left hand box, and nothing in the right hand box how do i know which to keep and which ones not to keep

You mark the ones that you want, and then with the arrow you pull them over to save.
When all done right click in either box and say yes to intelligent scan.

For the first week or so, do that every time that you use cc. This way all of your cookies that you want will be saved.

i have moved the ones i want but when i click in the box all i get is
ADD / EDIT/ REMOVE

what will happen to the ones that i dont save

Try to click in the other box, you should get intelligent scan then just say yes.
If you do not have that, then just be sure all the ones that you want are in the right hand box.
Do this for a while until you know that all your cookies are safe. Then you can just use the cleaner without getting involved with the cookies.

i dont have any problems with cookies because i dont really understand what
they do, so i dont really know which ones i should keep and why i should keep them

Let me explain what the good cookies do.
You may have checked the box, for this forum, remember me on login. If you did you do not have to log in. If you lose your cookies you have to log in to this forum everytime. Everything that you take for granted, will be lost.
Maybe you have a facebook account. You do not have to sign in, you checked remember me. Some secure accounts, when you use a computer without cookies, you have to answer security questions. Not the end of the world, just a pain.
