help me restore mY OS! please!

Same crap.
No device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers and then click ok.
It is just an serial ata seagate barracuda hd and a dvd rom.
What kind of drivers ????

none of my 3 hdd are recognized as a primary MASTER. Itried all 3 hdd one by one. The dvd rom is primary slave and the hdd is the third ide slave.
What is wrong here????
I have serial ata hdd.

Ok go to the Asus web site download section, select your motherboard, you will then get a list of drivers, download the sata drivers for your board, pop them on a memory stick and when vista asks for drivers point it to the memory stick.

bad news . NO SATA DRIVERS FOR VISTA 64.

They might consider the fact that vista is loaded allready with those drivers.
What now???

Is vista asking for sata drivers ..or what??/
I have the asus original cd..tried to install the sata 64 drivers ...nothing. Vista is not willing to show me my hdd.

my motherboard is asus p5wdg2 ws professional.

My Computer

you may need to go into the bios settings and change the drives from raid to sata. and see if that works.your harddrivers are (sata) right?

let me ask you this .
when the system was working did you have the raid installed?
did you setup the raid or did someone do it for you ?
if you set it up can you tell me the steps you took to do it .
this may help to undo what you may have don't wrong.

I think I know where the problem is.
Does anybody knows where to plug the dvd and where the hdd on the asus p5wdg2 ws professional motherboard?

I have 4 SATA conectors on the motherboard. Two are black and two are red.
Where should the dvd be connected and where the hdd??

My Computer

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!

I moved the sata connector from the black one on motherboard to a red one ..and voila. The hard drive is there as a master device. Just switch a connector and that was it.
Vista has started the installation.
Now the fun part is going to be the way I should arrange all 5 devices.
dvdrw rom with a sata connector
dvd rom with a regular large lots of pins connector (classic one)
and the 3 sata hdd

Before during my reaid configuration the dvdrw was the master. is this ok is the dvdrw will stay the master in my new configuration? considering the fact that I will get rid of the raid array. and for each hdd I will have a separrate letter C, D, E perhaps.

I fell a tiny light at the end of the tunnel. I might be done in few hours. Hopefully I will be able to connect the other 2 hdd and recover some date from there before I will format both of them.

Thanks a lot for each of you it was a long trip and it is allways nice to have helpull fellows around. I wish I would be able to buy a round of stella artoise (i pitcher of course )for all of you.

Please let me know how to set up the 2 dvd roms. I mean the jumpers.
i ll be back .

thx a lot

My Computer

so far so "almost good'

In bios I have this ;

primary ide master : not detected
primary ide slave liteon dvd
third ide master st 3500630as
third ide slave st 3500630as
fourth ide master st 3500630as
fourth ide slave tsst cd/dvdrw

Is this ok if there is no primary ide master??
if this might slow down a system then which way I should arrange them??

The third an fourth Master/Slave arrangement are your SATA drives. The Liteon DVD is connected to the old-fashioned IDE channel, right? Make it the Master if ther is nothing else connected to that cable.

OK COOL.

Thx Dzomlija. It is right the lite on dvd is alone and connected with the classic type of pins.

the dvdrw has a SATA type of connection . Before my system crashed , this was the primary ide master.

I will do as you said I am sure you know what you are talking about, and thank you again.

Maybe this would be interesting to all you who assited me so far. There is no way to recover data from the other 2 hdd. Whenever I click on them it is asking me to format. So bye bye DATA. Anyhow a fresh start might be nice sometimes ..LOL(the nervous one.)
Now I am at a video drivers step. I have two ati radeon hd 2600 pci in crossfire. Just to let you know that it wasn t the best choice in combination with vista 64. i have a lot of trouble setting up the gpu settings. The catalyst soft is not working very well.

Where SATA is concerned, it doesn't really matter, as you can have only one device per port. But as a rule of thumb, I usually put the hard drive in the first ports.

Most of the time, anyway. I think.... ;)

Before you give up on your data, have a look at R-Studio (which I think I've already mentioned):

http://www.r-studio.com/

I used a JBOD array with my old motherboard, but could no longer do this after it popped and I replaced it with a board that did not have JBOD support on it's RAID controller. The R-Studio software helped me recover 99% of the data I lost...
