That, of course is always an option. Most members prefer not to go that route and we suggest taking that approach only when all other possibilities have been exhausted. If you decide to reinstall, however, it will solve your problems.

I can give you an answer to that, but if it were mine and I were in your situation, I would cut my losses back up and reinstall.

I however have a backup of the entire system. After you are up and running Ill show you how to back up everything. You will never have to reinstall again.

i just got the dvd that i got with the laptop ..not upgraded

Good news my friend, you dont even need that DVD. Dell has a restoration partition. Just follow these instructions and you will be up and running again.
With the DVD or the partition you will lose your stuff. Do you have stuff that you want to save?
How do you access Dell’s recovery partition?

i got a driver that says recovery (D) ..should i still use the dvd or the options in the recovery drive

No, but if you ever do need the key its on the computer somewhere.

i tried to do the recovery through recovery drive but an error pops us (it has only an ok button and nothing written in it) ..now i am trying it with the cd

Just try the CD, I just thought that the other way was easier.
