I am restoring computer back to original setup- HP Media Center Desktop PC M8020N with
system recovery disc bought from Computer Surgeons.

System is HP Pavilion Media Center TV M8020N Desktop
· OS - Vista Home Premium
· x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? not sure but believe is 64 bit
· What was original installed OS on system? Vista Home Premium
· Age of system (hardware) 2007
· Age of OS installation 2007 - have you re-installed the OS? yes trying to restore back to
factory setting using the RECOVERY KIT for M8020n got from HP support site the build
ID#72NAv3PrA1 5092-5943
· CPU-- Intel Core 2 Duo E6420
· Video Card -- GeForce 7350LE
· MotherBoard-- P5LP-LE (Leonite)
· Power Supply -LiteON 300w Model # P3-5301-08HA
- HDD -- 2 @320gb WD both were reformatted
Steps taken:

1.) Bought System Recovery disc's from Computer Surgeons...
2.) Popped in disc 1 switched boot priorities to boot from CD drive
3.) followed steps...reformatted windows installation partition
4.) let it do it's thing...formatting and reinstalling original files
5.) at end says you should do these things after you get back into windows etc etc update
security stuff etc I click Finish system reboots.

6.) Loads Hp logo etc ...."Windows Loading Files" with white progress bar on bottom...then
motion bar "Microsoft Corporation"

7.) Pops up with a background showing with a wand pointed at the middle hole in the
CD...title in the background reads "Flex Build 2.0" "HP Restricted"

8.) There is a cmd window that pops up entitled startnet.cmd

9.) loads some text up onto the cmd ...some things it said were...ModeExecution
Build Partition....calling maestro...Searching for USER partition....

10.) After waiting for a couple of seconds...it changes from that to a completely new screen
with a grey background it has two folders and the paper transfer animation and while it's on
this screen you can see it loads the preinstalled programs such as HP CONNECTIONS.

11.) It then reboots and comes back shows windows did not start normally and is on the
recovery screen says need to insert installation disk and do a START UP repair Did the
repair system rebooted but keeps going back to system recovery stating windows did not start
normally.

My goal is to get vista back onto this computer and get it working like normal again...the
system recovery discs are for the original build for this model.

But so far I'm lost...any help would be greatly appreciated...if any other info is needed just
post...and I'll do what i can do get it on here.

Computer Surgeons says it can help you through the recovery. I see they have a chat line. Have you tried it.

One thing you might try during the bootup is to hit like F8 or F12 (every system is different) to see if it provides the boot options. If so, you could tell it to start Windows normally.

Hi wither 3 and richc46 --have already tried all -- booting with cd's It then reboots and comes back shows windows did not start normally and is on the recovery screen says need to insert installation disk and do a START UP repair Did the repair system rebooted but keeps going back to system recovery stating windows did not start normally. Computer Surgeons says is not a software issue states must be hardware - but the hardware and memory is all the original equipment. I will probably have to install a different OS.

Which function key took you to the boot options? Did you try getting into safe mode?

It sounds like you got lousy support from CS. Might try to get someone else.
