Hello Aquapure, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Sorry, but the Local Group Policy Editor is not available in the Vista Home Basic and Home Premium editions.

If you would like, you could post what you wanted to do in the appropriate forum area here, and we'll see if we may be able to find a way for you to do it in the registry instead.

What is it you're looking for?

You can apply filters so that entries containing the required information only are displayed.

For example, this shows the editor when it is first opened (I have arranged and sized the columns for the purpose of this illustration):

Capture.PNG

Suppose we want to quickly find and display all entries pertaining to scripts (and their derivatives). We click on Action and then Filter Options... As shown in the image below, we fill in script and check (tick) Enable Keyword Filters.

Capture1.jpg

Finally, click OK and then click the Filter icon (it looks like an upside down funnel).

Sorry I forgot to mention that I'm on Vista Enterprise 32.

I don't see these two option: Filter and All Settings

Guess I'm out of luck? Thanks.

My Computer

Hello Arlanda,

Unfortunately, the All Settings option is only available in Windows 7 and not in Vista. The Filtering option is available in Vista's group policy, but you would need to select a folder in the left pane first, then click on View (menu bar), and click on Filtering first.

However, if you know what you wanted to look for, we may already know where it is for you and let you know faster.

Hi,

I have Vista Enterprise, yet I cannot find the Local Group Policy Editor?
Even when I type in the gpedit.msc?

Any suggestions?

Rgds

Curtis.

My Computer

Hello Curtis, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Double check in your C:\Windows\System32 folder to see if the gpedit.msc or gpedit file is still there.

You might not have your search settings in Start Menu -> Properties -> Customize set like below to allow it to search the location above.

Hope this helps,
Shawn
