Locked myself out of C drive

Hey everyone, I'm really hoping for a miracle here and that someone can help me. I stupidly have denied myself access to the entire C drive. Was fiddling around w/ permissions to try to set up a guest account and clicked the "deny" buttons for the C drive, and now I can't access it all (this is using administrator account). I can't reset the priveleges, won't even allow me access to that.

I have spent the last two days trying to find a solution online but nothing works. Tried ERD commander but it doesn't work with vista. Have tried talking to my tech friends and even they can't figure it out. I can't access anything on C and cannot reset the permissions, even as an administrator.

Please, please help!!!

Right click on C: drive, go to security, take ownership of the drive.

I can't access the hidden admin account because when I try to run command prompt it tells me access denied b/c it's on the C drive. I cannot access the ownership tab to take back permissions because it is also denied. I have tried both of these!

Enable your administrator account and reverse what you in security.

The account I'm on is an administrator account. I can't access the true administrator account because it denies me access when I try to run command prompt.

I tried taking screenshots but I can't even do that b/c I can't save to the C drive and I don't have an external hard drive with me.

To sum:

1) Locked myself out of C drive by denying privileges
2) Cannot access the security tab to reset privileges b/c that also is denied
3) Cannot log on the "hidden" admin b/c access to command prompt is denied
4) Tried booting ERD commander but that doesn't work with Vista

Please help!!!!

If you can't do anything to fix your problem I'm afraid your going to have to reinstall vista.

cant u use a live linux disk to access the drive, and either fix the permissions or burn the data you want to keep?

Can you activate your administrator account?

My normal account is an administrator account, but it won't let me change privileges. I can't access the hidden administrator account because command prompt is denied access. I *can* access it through safe mode, but when I try to unlock the administrator account it doesn't work (says it can't find it or something similar).

Can you create a new administrator level account? Do a repair install from the DVD.
