Solved Lost Admin Privilege! Please Help Me!

Hi!

Sorry if this is not a right place to post.

I got my laptop from my school, and it's Windows Vista Business.

After 4 months using my laptop and using internet explorer, IE started to mess up! Everytime i opened my homepage: Google, it will redirect to a dating site. And every sort of pop ups appeared... the pop up blocker were turned on, homepage was set to google.co.uk, security setting was at the highest, blocked all cookies, and all sort of things i did. Also, it makes my startup , and performance become 6X time slower than usual.

After doing some searching on google, i found this tutorial site, there's a tutorial that exactly i have, it says that my User Account/profile is infected or something, it says to delete the account that's infected. I backed up all my files, and created a new admin account, and deleted that "infected" account.

It really worked, IE was fine, performance and such. But that was just temporarily, after 2 days, All the pop ups and stuff come back. So, i deleted the admin account i'am using, BUT I FORGOT TO MAKE ANOTHER ADMIN ACCOUNT!!

And i'am still using a guest account. I can't install, create a user account, use windows update, and all the admin Privileges.

There is one Administrator account, but i don't know the password. Oh the laptops is Toshiba, and i think the admin account is created by toshiba.

Is there another way of retrieving, or whatever method to be an admin for my laptop again WITHOUT reinstalling my Windows Vista.

Why do Vista have a high security!

Thank you.

But, all those requires me to be on Admin Account... exept boot from DVD, and i prefer not to use that option.

And i only want to access admin account, so i can update my laptop and stuff.

Hi Eldron,

Since you do not remember the password, your options are very limited. Using the boot DVD from Method Three in that reset link is the only easy option other than doing a clean reinstall of Vista. Anything else would involve having to take it to a professional and lots of money. :(

Sorry,
Shawn

Kinda curious - how can you delete the account you are logged into? I could ahve sworn all those other tutorials ask you to make a new profile, *log out and log into the other profile* and then delete the old profile....

Eldron,

Method Three shows you how to create a boot DVD with a editor tool that clears the password at boot. It is not the one from Method Two that you had to create (backup) at a earlier point. Method Three (Editor Tool) should do what you are wanting so you can gain access to your administrator account. Sorry for any confusion about this.

Hope this helps :geek:

Sounds like you have a tid bit of spyware on the laptop as it is by the home page redirecting you. I would just start over from scratch with a reload, that way you can get the full experience of installing Vista. Don't forget about some Anti-Spyware or Anti-Virus programs too, sounds like that could be an issue.

I don't think it's a spyware...

First, IE becoming really slow, so i decided to reset it... that's when all the pop ups and redirecting happened.

You just have to go in "Control Panel", "Security Center" and disable W. F/W
before you install Comodo, no it's not a thirty day trial. That's the paid version.
