Major Problem, URGENT HELP PLEASE, guys

The one most common, and important I think is, 7023. It has something to do with my windows Update which won't start... Windows Update is not a valid Win32 application. Source is the SCMeventlog Provider which means interrupted and stopped the application for some reason...
If I get Windows Update back online I can download new updates for Vista, maybe less errors then too.
Any hints?

Are you activated properly? Windows updates won't work if your computer license is on multiple computers. Did you run the Trendmicro free scan. A trojan horse could cause that to fail also.

The Trendmicro scan doesn't work. I tried every reliable free scanner I coul lay my hands on, but there seems to be a downloading problem: every time I try to download something it comes to like 10 percent and then it just stops downloading, doesn't close, just stays stuck at 10 percent... Must be the errors still...

Sounds like a Trojan Horse at work. Did you reinstall Avast, update it and do a full virus scan with everything enabled for a thorough scan with with box checked?

This is probably stupid question, but where do i reinstall avast? I don't have a file on it anywhere in my computer anymore...

Did you do the free version? Redownload it. Did you keep the e-mail key for it.

I don't know, I had everything sorted out by a guy that installed vista like 7 months ago...
And I tried the free avast one, but there I get the download thing I explained before already..

Did you get Avast installed and registered? If it stops working, it could be a Trojan Horse. I would uninstall it and reinstall it properly. You can get a new free key.

Yes the guy did that for me, and then, you asked me to uninstall my virus scanner in that mail, but before I uninstalled it, I noticed that it was turned off already, could be indeed trojan horse, what you are saying.

So it's already uninstalled and I tried to install the free edition from avast website, but it won't download all the way through as I explained...

I also get errors on my windows defender, saying Windows Defender Command Line Utility has stopped working.

Try to reinstall it in safe mode, if you can't in regular mode. Trendmicro has a good free scanner online. Try it.

I started a scan and for the first time in two days and I got BSOD...
I'm going to run a scan again later and see if it BSOD's again.

I also got a strange warning in eventviewer, here it is:

I know why avast didn't work, but am still to discover whether that was the reason for the BSOD. It says in one of my errors:

The avast!Antivirus scanner is marked as an interactive service. However, the system is configured to not allow interactive services. This service may not function properly.

SCSIraidGURU, if my eventviewer gives an error on an application or driver and I know where this app or driver is located, can I delete it from the system then or not. And if I can, very nooby question, how do I delete it:s not in recycle bin and then emty I assume...

just because you know where a problematic driver / service is does not mean that deleting it will help - but *most certainly* that last thing you want to do is permanently delete it from your system, only to find out it is a critical driver and renders your system inoperable completely....

You have to be careful removing drivers you are not sure about. You can google the driver and what it does. You can also search for the driver and right click on it and search the property for its use.

You reinstalled Avast and it won't run. You can't run other A/V apps. I would consider backing up your data to an external source and reinstall from scratch. Wipe off the partition and start over.

Yes, that's probably for the best. It's not like I've got THAT much data or things on here so yeah I'll do that probably. If I do that any virusses that might've been on here now would be deleted as well, right?
And I can set the caching back on...?
Anything I should really keep in mind when reinstalling it?

Yes, there does come a time with some computer problems that the best way forward is to perform a fresh installation of Vista. A few settings to check prior to doing this, however. Enter your BIOS (refer to your motherboard manual) and check that the date and time are correct. Also, set all settings at their default. If you are using a USB keyboard and/or mouse, enable USB legacy. If you are using RAID, this will need enabling here as well. Make sure that you have got the appropriate drivers available if you select this option as you might need to load them at the appropriate stage when installing Vista. Exit your BIOS, saving changes. When it comes to reinstalling Vista, proceed as before but carry out a FULL format at the appropriate stage. See the links below for guidance. Do not activate straight away, but make use of the grace period - currently 30 days - in order to iron out any problems. I would also consider upgrading the amount of RAM in your system as 1GB is not adequate for a 64-bit system. My system, which is 32-bit, has 2GB of RAM and I would consider this to be a minimum amount for a 64-bit system. If you are intending on upgrading to SP1, then use the link below to download the standalone version and save it to a DVD (the 64-bit version is too large for a CD).

Ok, thanks for the tips, I had already checked the 'tutorial' on the microsoft website, but off course I didn't know that the forum had one as well. RAID is multiple harddisk configuration, right? If it is that, I don't use it.
Backing up files is enough right, or should I back up more than just files (see backup and restore center)?
