Need help to fix my event viewer startup in services.msc

I'm having a problem after I installed PHOTOSHOP CS4 EXTENDED it asked me to update my video driver ( ATI RADEON X1300 ) which I did. after that not of my programs will launch when I tried to open up eventvwr it was blank. I tried to go to services.msc to see if the service is running under Windows Event Log it wasn't started was before the driver update . I right click on the Windows Event Log click on properties try to start the service and I get this error message error " 4201 the instance name passed was not recognized as valid by a wmi provider " . Need help to get this fixed . Thank YOu .

Use system restore and go back to a date prior to to CS4 Extended install.

Or at least try to roll back on the video driver

Lemur.. Tried both of those that you mentioned , System Restore and driver rollback . Didn't work . The system restore didn't successfully restore my computer message came up after the restore. The driver roll back just removed my video drivers. So I had to reinstall the drivers last night.

CS4 asked you to install video driver? and where was CS4 getting that from?

CS4 asked you to install video driver? and where was CS4 getting that from?

yeah CS4 said my video card needs to be updated to use the features cs4 has. So I said what the h*ll lets update the video drivers . Thats when everything went down Hill.

I'm a little in shock. I have CS3 and CS4 and it never suggested that (nor would I let it).

Thank You so much it work. I even went ahead and renamed the Rtbackup folder inside C:\windows\system32\Logfiles\WMI and it recreated the RTBACKUP folder . Now I could get my event viewer running.

There is one thing that I distinctly remember, do not let vista or any other program try to update any sort of driver and everything will be fine. Update it manually from the manufacturers site.

I would need more information about that, but my first reaction is - I don't want Adobe interfering with my video card. I'll do more research later...

How would I go about doing that where I could stop Photoshop telling me I should update my video drivers ? This is my first time using Photoshop never used it before . Better yet how would I have VISTA do that ?

The accelerator is different from the regular video driver. You should always be fine updating your video card driver, and I'd recommend it. If you have an NVidia card, go to their driver download - Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers - and select the driver appropriate for your card and operating system.

Wasn't Photoshop asking me to update my video card driver ? Cause thats what it did when I clicked on YES.

Its probably an option. I haven't used PS in ages. But I'm sure you can turn it off somewhere in the program's options.

Ok thank You just did that. There is an update 11.1 for photoshop CS4 do I need that?
