Please what steps can I take to solve this compatibility issue? I am having an issue with peer guarian on my new 64 bit Vista home premium system. I intalled the peer guardian 2 software but when I try to run it, I see a warning about an unsigned driver problem. PLEASE How can I install peerguardian on my new x64 Windows Vista OS and have it running as normal like on an XP system.

64 bit doesn't allow you to use unsigned drivers. You have use the F8 key when you boot up and select where it says Allow Vista to use unsigned drivers. You have to do this every time you boot up though I believe.

Now there is another problem, when I try running peerguardian, it shows that it is loading, but all it does is stop indicating that it is loading and peerguardian does not display, everything remain as they were before I clicked the icon. I tryed fixing this by running "Recover Peeguardian" but this did not work. The driver signature overide is working but the program is not opening, how can I fix this problem?

Reading this and your other post about this software would make me think that the best thing you can do is uninstall it and if you've bought it try to return it for a refund saying it will not work with your system.:(

Although I don't run it here on my own PC, in my Computer business I've had to install several PC's now with the 64 bit version of Vista.

Several of the programs I use on Vista 32 to tweak it, tune it and make it generally run better, won't even run on the 64 bit version. There is NOTHING I can do about it, except find a work-around or just move on.

I like to use the old DOS program Deltree.exe in a batch file to clean out junk files on the HD of XP and Vista 32......but Vista 64 flatly refuses to run it. Go figure!

So I've re-written the batch file, just for Vista 64 and changed the line:

deltree /y "C:\Windows\temp\*.*"
to:
Echo Y | del "%windir%\temp\*.*"

That's just one line in a batch file that has about 40 such lines.
One line for every folder where Windows likes to store its JUNK.

I run my VICleanup.bat program from a shortcut in the Startup folder,
for a little "FREE Maid Service", every time I boot up in Vista.
I also put the shortcut on my desktop for a little instant Cleanup whenever I want.
It's also a part of my weekly maintenance routine, along with "Disk Cleanup" and "Easy Cleaner 2".

Stop laughing!! It keeps my HD clean and free of all the crapola that windows likes to collect. I've been doing this since the Windows 98 days and it really keeps down the clutter.:D

Sorry for getting OFF TOPIC, but it was just something that seemed to need saying.
Again I apologize to the author of this thread, but maybe, just maybe someone somewhere will get some good out of it.

Wishing y'all a very good 2009!

Shadow
