I did the same and my boot is now 5-10 seconds faster than pre-SP2, shutdown is quicker as well. This was on 64bit Vista. I have not noticed any other changes besides those though.

It fixed my Folder View problem, or at least it appears to have done so.
It used to be that if I set my Music folders to show details and selected details like bit rate and date modified and so on, it would then forget those details at each restart.

Now it seems to be remembering them! I PRAY this is true and that it lasts!

if this problem comes back for you look here Annoyances.org - Default Folder Template Patch works great for me

Hey there everyone,
I am trying to help out companies by creating an anti-cracking software or file they can run so that people cant crack them. I am mainly focusing on Windows. I have a friend whos going to be writing the software for me. We have been doing a ton of research on this and we have figured out a few ways.

Did Vista finally include a anti-crack patch with this SP or is it still vulnerable. I hate what they did in the first one. Instead of issuing the patch with a SP so people HAD to install the patch, they sent it out as a little upgrade BY ITSELF!!! Its one of the KB's Im not going to say for obvious reasons but it doesnt make sense. If they included one im just going to move on to making the software for 3rd party software but if Microsoft didnt, i want to help them. I emailed them and they said they want to see my worl. So im going to write this and see what they say...

Thanks guys,
Ben

P.S.-No one better ask me how to crack anything. I will report you. I am 10000000% against that and i think people who do that are low-lifes. I could go on for days on this subject but i wont. Also, if anyone thinks that i crack, i will provide my Vista serial code and a picture of the sticker on my comptuer.

Thanks again,
Ben

Check your build version, I had the SP2 issue, and its now fixed on my systems.

Eset released a new build a week ago that appears to resolve the issue. Build release date may 20th, 2009 (build 4.0.437)
I installedthe build on all our computers, and the issue has yet to reoccur on any of them. No more red icon at startup due to real time protection failure.
Download build 437 here (post #8)- you cannot "update" to build 437. Export/Import the config settings, and reinstall:
http://www.vistax64.com/software/229398-sp2-nod32-4-a.html

As for speeding up Vista SP2, try this:
http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/165576-how-make-vista-more-responsive-faster.html?filter

build 437 did not fix the problem, i am running that version and still have the problem

I've not noticed any major differences; just that WMP loads faster enough and the image files (Thumbnail preview or whatever) loads faster. And blue tooth seems to be faster. And there are a lot of bugs fixed. Example, Vista used to be slow when copying files or unresponsive; SP2 fixed this.

hello:

---speaking of 'bluetooth'---I did notice that NEW blue design icon parked into the Control Panel area, right after the SP2 download---at first I thought that I may have downloaded a new online/game and forgot to uninstall it, but then 'logic' kicked into my brain and 'voila' - I realized that it is for people who like to have a blue tooth stuck inside their ears---(I personally prefer stray poking cactus hairs)---
