Problem with X-Fi Sound After Wake Up From Sleep Mode

So, I have the X-Fi XtremeGamer sound card, and I've never had any problems with my sound. Nothing has ever acted up or anything.

I've recently tore my system down, and put it back together. and now for some reason my sound is acting up. It still works, but not all the time. Also my Internet is acting up the same way also.

so, everything was all good. and after rebuild Now when I put the system to sleep, when I wake it up I get a Windows message saying something about Windows something didn't respond. and my volume symbol in system tray is X'd Out. I have no sound. but if I wait about 20-30 seconds it just turns on all of a sudden, like the X-Fi is waking up slower than the computer is. But this has never happened in the past. So it works, but it's delayed. Same thing with my Internet, it's never had a problem. but now when I wake system up from sleep mode, the net doesn't work. and I hoped it would turn on like the sound does, but it doesn't. So I have to either Restart PC, or I can unplug, and replug in the Ethernet cable. then it works fine.

I'm not sure why both of these items are acting up, but they have never done this is the past.

Does anyone know why either of these things would be happening?

Thanks!

Quite bizzare, I suffer from very similar issues to you after waking from sleep.

I also have an X-Fi card and I also recently rebuilt my machine. Now when I wake from sleep the Audio comes on straight away but it sounds fuzzy. The network connection then takes an age to re-establish, it's actually quicker for me to reboot.

The audio sorts itself out if I changed through the Entertainement, Game and Audio creation modes.

I haven't got anywhere in resolving this, apart from disabling my PC from going to sleep :)

After awaking the system, go to device manager, click on Network Adapters, then highlight the LAN card that is not working. Then right click and select disable. Wait a sec, then right click and enable. Let me know if this works for you. Not elegant but gets the job done!

well, the sound and internet work, it comes back. But it takes about 20 or 30 seconds. and then it's working again.

I get an error and it says Windows Event Log has Stopped Working. and then after I close that and wait a little while, the sound just starts working and the net comes back. So I don't know, it's actually not been doing it anymore. and I figured that the problem went away. It's worked perfect for the last 3 days or so, until today. It's doing it again.

Anyone have any idea's for a fix, something with the Windows Event Log or something like that.

have you checked your BIOS configuration? what sleep mode is it in? S1 or S3?
If you tore your hardware down and then put it back together maybe your BIOS got miss configured. (did you take the battery out too?). In some MoBos there are additional options for add on cards and what action the should take when waking from S1 or S3. Check your BIOS and see what you can find.
