this is nothing to do with being a "fanboy" and ALL to do with recommending the best system for somebody who is spending THEIR hard earned cash , i would NEVER recommend anything just beacuse I prefer it and i would NEVER recommend anything unless i had made sure it was up to the job and the components were equally matched , i have been building systems for myself and others for nearly ten years now , that said i know that others may have better ideas than me , Thats why we have threads like this.

This isnt an excuse to slag me off , feel free to object to my comments but at least come up with some constructive critisism , im getting rather sick of this "fanboy" ****

Domi , i see good points in both your proposed builds , however i think your motherboard is a bit on the pricey side and i think if you want to crossfire in the future you will need a bigger PSU , its all about trying to future proof your build a little.

Im very busy with work at the mo I would like to see what i could put together for you at your proposed price but it will require a good few hours research time i wont have till early next week.

So if your itching to buy then i would say go for either of those builds , but have a think about getting a bigger PSU , stick with your OCZ choice for manufacturer though i know thay are very good :) and normally i wouldnt say this (i never really rated DX10) BUT DX11 looks to a big leap in GPU tech so MAYBE its worth looking into a DX11 card.............its your cash ;)
i'm just messin captain calm down haha
@ domi, that mobo is still a great choice :D if you have a little extra cash i'd see about upping that case some.....

thats a good mobo also.... and yes the thermal take case does come with fans.... i'm not sure if it has two or how many so one extra 12cm fan might be a good idea but it would have the best cooling of the two

4870 crossfire
or
5770 crossfire

in benchmarks sometimes it seems to be the 4870 that is better (in fps) and sometimes 5770 is better. don't both of them use dx11? like hardware tessellation?

No. Only the 5000 series are DX11. 4000 series are DX10.1. You will see various different results between them. The 5000 series are still relatively new, so until the drivers for them mature a bit, it might underperform in a few games. Still the better choice to go for though.

+ 1

If nothing else the 5770 is more 'power efficient' , particularly when idle.

I'd also expect to see some improvement with some more driver maturity.

i only asked because of the memory interface - the 5770 is 128-bit and the 4870 is 256-bit. and i noticed the gtx290 series have 869-bit memory interface. does the memory interface affect the performance?
