Random BSODs

Please Help,

Hoping someone here can help me with my BSOD's The latest one knocked me out of a Game. But the others all happened out of nowhere. This is a Fresh Install of Vista Ultimate x64. Don't seem to be getting many Obvious Windows Errors. But ive been getting alot of APP Crashes of all sorts. From Windows Explorer stopped working, to Comodo (browser) Stopped working etc. Was having an issue with AMD Catalyst but ive recently removed the Catalyst (amd vision) and that startup error stopped. Now i just get random BSODs, no initial start-up errors.

I was thinking it was probably a memory issue.. But this is New RAM ( 2x 4gb Corsair Vengeance ) and i know just because its new does not mean my system does not like it and or its not bad. Vista X64 is installed on a Kingston HyperX 120gb SSD (not sure if these issues are bios/SSD Related ) Have held off on upgrading Bios unless instructed.

Can't think of anything else that is worth mentioning.

Comodo has it's own firewall. I'm wondering if that's causing the problems.

Bump.. Has anyone had a chance to review the Dump Files? Recently Blue Screened Twice while trying to download adobe acrobat.

I have read your reports and to be honest they are not consistent. We will find the cause of your problem in a systematic manner. We will first rule out drivers. To be honest, I think that it is a hardware problem, but lets rule out drivers first.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable - Windows 7 Forums
Verifier is the same for Vista as it is for Seven.
Run for 36 hours and then download the BSOD reports that you have encountered.
If the cause is not a driver, we will work together and try to discern the hardware that is causing your problems.

Yes.. To be Honest i thought it could be hardware issue as well.. But its a new HD, New Memory, soon to be new video card (just ordered one) Needed an upgrade anyway and i think its possible to be a bad vid card.

I will however run Driver Verifier and see what happens.

UPDATE: Driver Verifier Has been running for a bit over 16hrs and so far no BSDs

However im still getting Random APPCRASH's from various programs/services etc. Most recently COMODO (Browser) Screenshot attached below.

Have Uninstalled and Reinstalled Comodo Browser. I don't believe its a COMODO Specific ISSUE. I do believe we can rule out Drivers at this point.

I will assist you in any way that you want. I have seen, however, that its best to let the driver verifier run a full course. If it is a driver and we miss it, finding the true cause will take forever. May I suggest, that you run the verifier overnight and then we start with the hardware.

That will be fine, Its still running. My New Video card should be in tomorrow. Not sure if i should hold off on installing it before we look into hardware related issues.

I think that it may be best to wait until after the verifier test. If you install the new card now and we do not have any more BSODs, for a while, we will never really be sure that was the cause.
After the driver test and I examine the files, you can install the new card then and see what happens. If no more BSODs, we know that it was not a driver, but the card. If you still get BSODs we need to investigate further.
The card is considered hardware.

Yeah i agree.. I know its not been 24 - 36hrs yet but ive been getting quite alot of BSODs here lately. My Event Viewer keeps showing

EDIT: BTW CCC Is no longer installed.. IT never would load once i updated my Video Card Drivers..

Not sure if thats any relation to my BSODS.. I will wait on uploading the latest Dumps until sometime tomorrow after work.. Which should be well over the recommended time running Verifier. Does seem to keep crashing if i watch videos or do anything Media Related. Screen will have a bunch of colorful stripes going through it and BSOD. While sometimes it locks up completely and ive got to reboot. Have even had Windows Services crashing.

Hopefully by tomorrow night we can get something sorted out.

If you are getting a lot of BSODs with the verifier running, no need to go the whole 36 hours. Give me the reports and I will check them out as soon as possible.
Sounds like it very well could be the video card or its driver.

Yes, quite a few BSODs since enabling verifier. Could be Verifier causing them but im unsure, as it wasnt BSODing then all of a sudden IRQL blue screens, BSOD, BSOD, BSOD.

It actually BSOD while i was trying this (2nd attempt typing this now) Anyway, Files attached. Let me know what you find out and i will proceed.

We need to go slowly step by step, even if you have done some of this before.
The reports again, even with Verifier, were not specific. At least 3/4 of the reports, however, showed a consistent process involved in the BSOD. Even the screen shot that you gave us of the appacrash, showed this process. The name of the process is dragon.exe. Here is a link that describes the process. Don't follow any of the directions given in the article, but just read for your own information.
dragon.exe Windows process - What is it?
Dragon.dll was, also noted. This could be part of Comondo or another piece of software, usually Roxio.
dragon.dll - What is dragon.dll?
Dragon.exe is a Comodo process. Lets uninstall Comodo (create a System Restore point first making it easy to go back) and replace Comodo and your Anti Virus with the Windows Firewall and Microsoft Security Essentials. You can put everything back later, if needed, with the System Restore.
Now use the computer, after 2 or 3 BSODs remove Roxio (if used). If you still get BSODs give me the reports. I am looking for Dragon.exe/Dragon.dll. Possibly exe and/or dll is not fully removed when you uninstall Comodo and is the cause of the BSODs. If this is not the case, I would be interested in seeing the reports to determine the cause.
If this move does not pan out, the dumps were pointing to memory and we will go there next. I have an easy test that you can use for memory. I know its new memory, but new does not mean good.

Greetings Richard!

Thus far i have not Removed Comodo, I do not have a Dragon.exe in any SYSTEM Folder. If the Dumps are referring to memory should probably disregard as i have been messing with the Timings Trying to optimize and gain some stability. (which i understand.. could still be bad memory) But i feel its probably due to my adjustments as i was getting a couple BSOD related to memory corruption and such nearly immediately after changing Timing/Voltage. Trying to get Memory to run in 1600 Mode (800mhz) and ya probably shouldnt be messing with any of that given the issues and BSODS im having.. But i just couldnt help myself.

BUT as i was in the BIOS I was careful.. as always an was watching my hardware monitor in bios.. and noticed my CPU Temp getting uppwards of 75 - 80 Degrees.. Booting into windows and BSOD. So i figured.. Maybe Just Maybe im having BSOD due to CPU Overheating. So i decided to go clean it out (as i do regularly)

However.. ive never removed the Fan from the Heat sink This time i decided hrmm.. wonder if i can remove the fan from the heat sink and do a better job. Once i removed the CPU Fan from the Heat Sink.. I discovered ALOT and i do mean alot of Solid Dust Buildup basically molded to the heatsink.

Cleaned and blew everything out thoroughly (including PSU and Graphics Card (old one) ) And now my temps are stable at around 31c Under normal Conditions (browsing and such) As this is a new format i hadnt thought of checking temps. Reason for my format was issues with computer. It had occasionally BSOD Just figured it was a buncha junk and corruption so i formatted.

Anywho.. SO far everythings running smoothly no BSOD.. Hopefully just maybe that was the issue to begin with.

I will post back if im having anymore BSOD, But since most of the BSOD never really pointed to anything specific im hoping it was an overheating issue and is resolved. Only time will tell.

However... I do have something else maybe you could help me figure out. During the duration of this whole ordeal.. I discovered just recently that my Backup/Storage Drive is not being recognized by OS as its in RAW Format.. i do not know how the F*** That happened.. But im kinda freaking out, Has all of my daughters pictures on it. I know that i can probably recover the data and move it to another drive. But do not currently have another drive big enough. Do you or anyone you know, know of anyway to fix the MBR/Boot Rec so that it isnt in RAW Format.. In Windows its wanting me to format the drive. ( I HAVE NOT DONE THAT! )

If you say that the drive is formatted, it may be in Fat32, Vista needs NTFS. To format now, you would lose your stuff. I do not know of any course of action other than to back up your stuff and then format
