Hey guys I am new to forum and new to Vista. I just built my first computer with help and advice from a friend and just am wondering what you think.

ASUS M3A78 AM2+/AM2 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard
GeForce 9800 GTX(G92) 512MB 256-bit GDDR3
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Windsor 3.0GHz
OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066
SAMSUNG Spinpoint F1 HD502lJ 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache
OCZ StealthXStream OCZ500SXS 500W

So far it is running beautifully with Vista. No hiccups. All drivers recognized. I built this system because I hadn't upgraded my POS dell since I got it in '02 and it officially bit the dust the other day. I also wanted to be able to play all the top of the line games that are out especially Fallout 3. Anyway I just wanted to know if anyone has a similar setup and how it has been treating them.

Hi Redfoxm18, welcome to the board.
Don't see any answer, let me try.
First, congrat on your new built and without any glitches.
It is really difficult to give you a straight answer because I usually run into this sort of question before the system is built. So.......it really depends on how high you like your setting for your gaming. Looking at your spec, it will handle all the new games out there, but there are always room for improvement. For example, if you are looking for upgrade or something one day, your psu could have been bigger,as such. Good luck and enjoy!

Thanks for the high praise guys. It is encouraging. The PSU in the end looking back on it was my only real concern but it seems to be running well. I'm picking up Fallout 3 after work today so I will really give my system a workout when I get home and see how it performs.

On a side note does anyone know the EVGA software that comes with 9800 really well and what can I tweak the settings too without putting major strain on my card? I upped the fan from 35% it comes set at to 65% which helps with cooling while playing WoW which is the only game Ive tested extensively on my rig. I can put on full visual settings and my core temp does not get above 42C and the graphics card has not reached above 55C.

I am jealous, that's pretty much all I can say. ;)

+1 on the PSU, with that big of a monster, you could have gone for a 750/1000w and not have to upgrade until 2015 :p :D

The scary part is I spent more than double what I spent on this when I got my dell for college in 2002. Besides what was mentioned earlier I sprung for Vista (obviously), a wireless router for my house, wireless card for my rig, and 22x DVD/DVD Writer drive. Total cost including shipping off of newegg.com $920.75.

It handles mutliple processes with ease which is great cause I'm usually downloading music, playing a game, running music, ad have several applications running in the background. It's real test will be when I bring home Fallout 3 and crank it way up :)

I was looking at a 4870x2 for highend gaming cranked to maximum.

Damn way outta my price range. I don't think you would have to update for a real long time if you got that.
