Show us your rig

Great rigs guys. I got to get me a new build going. Last build was 3+ years ago XP Pro desk top. My laptop: HP 6775 is Vista Home Premium, I really want Vista Premium x64.

It's your fault, I'm browsing new egg tonight....

not bad lookin there Grim.

you shoulda just asked. we could have told you to only try 1 stick of ram instead of 2. that would of been my first suggestion.

So are both cores working?? Make sure if that happens again you look in the BIOS to make sure both are enabled.

Nice 750i. although it's the Asus model. still good.

Thanks mate I would of asked you but you were not logged in
and yes I have both cores enabled in the Bios I dont know why it wasn't showing up but that was only on vista home premium 32bit anyway you said that it was ASUS Mobo but it is the same one you have the EVGA 750i FTW:)

lol hamster roller.. thats funny.. how comical.

Ohh, are you offended. it's only a joke Sir. I do have one question. is 4.0 GHz your 24/7 Grim. or is that just your max ur showing on that CPU-Z up there.?
you can do as you like, but I've heard more then a few horror stories of people with these new 45nm chips having them Die a very early death if getting more than 1.37v

I see your CPU-Z is showing 1.40v in just CPU-Z. and that means ur even higher in your BIOS.. at 1.412v Anandtech killed there QX9650 in 4 months.
That might not be everyone elses times. but I've heard some bad stories. You're fine to go that high, its your stuff, and your money. but I'd only recommend those volts for suicide runs and for Benchmarking.

Just thought I'd share that thought.
and amplid. I'm hoping for 4.2 Ghz on Air. and I've seen higher. but I'll probably do 4.0 Ghz for 24/7 :):):):):0

I managed to fix the problem with my CPU using one core, I went into msconfig, boot advanced setings and checked the the detct HAL box, rebooted and it was fixed.

I also got my dual boot options back using a program called EasyBCD, Just went into add/remove entries and added the other OS called it Windows Microsoft Vista Home Premium, changed the the drive letter to D:\ and it was all good.:)

I have sorted out the voltage after some tweaking here and there and now I have it stable @ 4.0Ghz 1:1 Ratio with 1.35v. Might try to get it lower but happy with that at the moment.:)

Yea those new 45nm processors from Intel are beasts to overclock, and the best part is that your temps aren't going anywhere! If I upgrade my processor any time soon (which I doubt) I'll probably get a Q9550 to replace my Q6600.

Welcome to Vista Forums Reacher, that's a nice looking Rig you have there and very tidy and I am glad you proved your brother wrong about Vista, it's a great operating system.
I see you have 8Gb of RAM, what sort is that, is it Kingston, it looks cool:).

Thanks xguntherc, but it wasn't as good as I hoped when I ran Orthos, Everest benchmark was running fine, might still need to do some more tweaking:). My voltages in the Bios are VCore 1.375v, FSB core is at 1.375v, NForce SPP 1.45v,NF200 Voltage level 1 1.35v, RAM 1:1 @ 900Mhz 2.2v 5.4.4.12.
