Skydrive can't be run with full administrative rights

When I try to run the .exe file to set up Skydrive, it gives me the above message. When I go to it's properties and select the Security tab, it shows the system and two administrators with full rights. If I deny full control to both administrators, the setup says I don't have permission to run it.

Kind of a catch 22.

Has anyone else encountered this? If so, what is the fix?

Hello Wither,

You'll need to set permissions rights for the .exe file back to full control.

This may be a "Run as administrator" (elevated) issue instead.

Is your user account an elevated account (ex: built-in "elevated" Administrator account)? If so, try running the .exe from a normal unelevated administrator account instead.

Double check using step 7 in the tutorial below to make sure that the Run this program as an administrator box is unchecked in Compatibility Mode settings.

In addition, do not use "Run as administrator" when you right click on the .exe.

No, I'm not using an elevated user account. It's the same level as when you first install the OS. I also always have UAC turned off.

I had actually tried running it as the administrator and got the same error.

I was looking on the web and found that UAC has to be on to run it. However, I turned UAC on and rebooted and got the same error.

Odd. Do you have all of your Windows Updates installed for Vista?

Yep. Everything is set properly.

If I remember correctly, it provides an elegant solution involving creating administrator accounts but I've decided I'm not interested. I frequently upload files for otheres to download at hotfile.com and depositfiles.com but their upload and download speeds are awful.
