Solved Sound problems

I switched from a vizio to a tcl TV and am having problems with the sound when plugged into my laptop via hdmi. With the vizio, it would automatically switch the sound to come out of the TV when i plugged it in and go back to the speakers when i unplugged. Now i have to manually change it back and forth. I think this happened once with my vizio but i fogot how i fixed it. The tv uses the NVIDIA HDMI OUTPUT. Any ideas? This get pretty annoying to have to switch back and forth everytime

Hello again! Yes I have...that is where I have to go to manually change it back and forth between the TV and laptop speakers. I'm trying to get it set so it automatically switches when I plug and unplug the hdmi cable. I can't remember what I did before with my vizio to make it happen. Is there something specific I should set it to??

I forgot to mention that I also have the Realtek digital output but when I set it to that I don't get sound out of either the TV or my laptop whether or not the hdmi is plugged in.

In your Audio Manager, if you highlight the digital output, and then look at properties, you will see some tabs that you may need to take a look at.

I've looked at these but not too sure what exactly I'm looking for. Nothing stuck out to me. Could you be more specific as to what I should be looking for?

Well, for starters, you should see when you highlight it, a indication that it is Working. Then in properties, notice the jack setup . Tells you where you should be plugged in at. That is in gerneral Tab under Controller Information, properties, Then you of course want to make sure it is in fact Enabled. Then in the other tabs, you can test them and get proper settings . A matter of poking around, i do not use that as my default and have good sound , so i am not going to enable mine and play with anything. I am playing around with bbcode . as you can tell.. LOL . experimenting .

Well I'll be damned! Now I got it working....somehow?....I set the nvidia hdmi to default and with the hdmi cable plugged in and restarted my computer....that seemed to do the trick....(it didn't work when i tried the same thing with the cable unplugged)

Thanks again!!! Don't know what I'd do without ya!
