Solved Speakers failed after instaltion of SP2

Hello, I had to install SP2 for vista on my computer and now to speakers will not work not matter what. I have installed the drivers for the speakers and still no go. Here is a specs for the computer any help would be appreciated
OS Vista Home Premium
6.0.6002 SP 2 build 6002
Inspiron 546
x64 based PC
AMD Phenom 9750 Quad Core Processor

I would guess a driver problem.
Go to search
type cmd
in cmd type device manage
In device manager look for yellow warning markers, very small, to show corrupted drivers.
Update the sound drivers.

I tried that in the cmd line but it says
device is not recognized .... blah blah blah hate that line.
can i get there another way?


I can get to the device manager but there is no yellow marks anywhere

I right clicked the sound drivers for the for both the High definition audio device and the via high def audio and windows says that its is uptodate

I would go to the website and get the most up to date. The updater gives you the generic, one size fits all, the website gives you the specific for your card.

Go back to device manager and see the manufactuer of your card, then go to that website, maybe support, maybe downloads and save the correct driver to your desktop. I will help you from there.

Well i have two it seams one is the
High Def Audio Device from Microsoft
and the other is the
VIA high def audio device by VIA Technologies, Inc.

I got to properties and it says that the VIA does not have a driver and the Microsoft one is fine. I found this page from via VIA Drivers Download - VIA Technologies, Inc.
but I dont know which via product to chose?

I dont think that you sound card is amd, but now I do not know what it is

step 1 is windows
step 2 is vista 64 bit
step 3 is audio right?
