Hello y'all

I have been saying I was going to do it, so now I have!

I ordered these components from Newegg 12 June (yesterday).
Today I received conformation that the order was packed and tracking
numbers were issued, shipping from two different origins.

EVGA 1GB 9600GT - OCZ 700W PSU - HANNS-G 22" LCD Monitor to go with my 47" 1920x1080P Monitor/TV

The monitor will be here Tuesday the GFX Card & PSU will be here Wednesday!
I would really like to install the PSU myself; any suggestions?

Altho i dont think 1GB really matters on the 9600GT ?

Installing PSU is quite easy BUT if you've never done it i suggest you take a snapshot or something of the current PSU connections and then install the new one accordingly
(Dunno about the OCZ but some Manufacturers do not provide a manual for installation)

The main thing you have to do is plan for removal and installation. Some cases have things that get in the way, like ThermalTake's Armour line having he USB et. al on *top* of the case as opposed to in front.

Installing a new psu is the most cable intensive part.
Take out the old PSU.
Take out the graphics card.

if your psu is modular I would connect the cables first to the HD and motherboard before connecting to the psu (This will allow for better cable management.)
If the psu is not moduler install the psu first before connecting any cables.)
Connect the power cables to the graphics card before you install it if possible. You have an antec case so this is quite inportant as it may be a tight fit otherwise.
After you have installed everything think about airflow. When having cables in a computer, can you hide some behind the motherboard. Tie wrap some of the cables to the side of the hard drive bays, use an unused harddrive bay for cables not being used, one of the top 3 if possible again because of the bottom 2 fans.
There may also be a connector on some motherboards for a graphics card.

I want to thank you for taking time to respond to this.
I am concerned that this may be over my head simply because I have
no experience doing anything like this. I will learn as time goes by but I
don't think a big project like a PSU is the place to start.
I'll probably take it to someone who knows what they're doing.

I may have made things sound more complicated than they are, my wife tells me off for this all the time. Installing a PSU is not to bad. Once you have got a friend to help you with it, dont get them to do all the work otherwise you will not learn, you will also realise how easy it is. You can not plug the wrong cable in as the cables only fit the devices they are designed for. Take things 1 item at a time and make a list of what you have.

i.e.

1 HD 1 power point
1 DVD RW 1 power point
1 gfx card 1 or 2 power points
1 mobo (power points depend on make)
Case fans 4 power points. (some of the fans may be plugged into the mobo)

As you link up each power point mark it off your list.

just make sure when installing the PSU try & keep 1 finger on the underside of the PCB when applying pressure for connection

Hello again everyone!

Well got the monitor last week and I love it, very nice!

I RMA'd the EVGA card back (didn't even open it) and got the card I wanted to
get in the first place...

THIS CARD has one DVI and one HDMI out, since I want my 47" (no DVI in) to
be my second monitor there's no reason to have to use an adaptor the 47" has
four HDMI's in. Not to mention it's about 75.00 less... !
Plus the EVGA was way more card than I'll ever use.

I"ll probably 'wimp out' and let someone that REALLY knows what they're doing
install the PSU, oh well tomorrows' another day. I'll learn sooner or later.

Check out the ATI 4870 for $309, if you can afford it. I would also get the PC Power and Cooling Silencer 750W power supply. It is single rail 12V.

How to Install an ATX Power Supply

Installing an ATX power supply in a new computer case or an old computer case. You will need a screw driver set and possibly wire cutters.
Steps

1. Unplug the power from the ATX power supply, if there is currently a power supply installed in the computer.
2. Remove the side panel from the computer tower. These are usually shut by thumb screws, which you can easily remove, but you may require a Phillips head screw driver.
3. Assess the position of the current power supply in the case. That is, is it installed length-wise, or width-wise?
4. Unplug all connections from the power supply to components in the computer.
5. Remove the screws from the power supply at the rear of the case.
6. Slowly and carefully remove the power supply.
7. Take the new power supply and work it into the position of the old power supply.
8. Reinstall the screws that hold power supply in the case.
9. Return all power connections to devices in the computer.
10. Plug in the power supply.
11. Turn on the computer and boot.
12. Turn off the computer.
13. Return the side panel to the computer and reinstall screws to hold side panel in place.

Tips

• If there are obstructions when removing the power supply, (e.g. a video card, the processor heatsink), only remove them if it is absolutely necessary. If not, try to work the power supply around them.
• There may be tie straps in the case, which may need to be cut.
• Test all components on your computer before returning the side panel and reinstalling the outer screws.

Warnings

• Remember that all power supplies contain various capacitors inside of them that retain power even after it has been turned off. Never open up or insert any metal objects into the vents of it, as you can risk electrical shock.
• When removing power supply screws, hold on to power supply. The torque from removing one screw can affect the removal of the others.
• Check twice, cut once before removing any tie strap restraints. You do not want to clip a power cable by accident!
