Solved TSST corp CDDVDW TS-L632H ATA Device

What OS are you really using? Windows Version 5.2 relates to Windows Server 2003 and XP Professional XP3 (assuming that's what version means in that message) - but not as far as I know to Vista. Are you absolutely certain you're using the correct drivers for your OS?

How are you doing on sending us those reports and doing those other tests and procedures? We can't help you much without more information and unfortunately although this message relates to the problem, it doesn't really help because it leads us to no solution that I've been able to find. The other reports may be more helpful.

Thanks for the update. Remember, the more you do and tell us about (including test results, reports, and the like), the more we can assist you. At this point, we are pretty much at a standstill until you provide more details and information and the results of those procedures.

Good luck!

Ok,

Back to basics.

You say it will not format with any software.
  1. What software, versions too please, have you tried?
  2. What brand of CD/ DVD have you been trying to format?

Re: Vista:Windows was unable to complete the format...enlighten me.

Hi,

The message from MS implies the the CD/ DVD is damaged in some way. This could be a manufacturing flaw or just a damaged surface.

The reason for asking about the brand is relating to die formats as some devices are "Particular" as to what media they are fed!

See: - http://www.proactionmedia.com/dvd_media_formats.htm
QUOTE[
Is it true there are compatibility problems with recordable DVD media formats?

Yes. A big problem is that none of the writable formats are fully compatible with each other or even with existing drives and players. In other words, a DVD+R/RW drive can't write a DVD-R or DVD-RW disc, and vice versa (unless it's a combo drive that writes both formats). As time goes by the different formats are becoming more compatible and more intermixed. A player with the DVD Forum's DVD Multi is guaranteed to read DVD-R, DVD-RW, and DVD-RAM discs, and a DVD Multi recorder can record using all three formats. Some new "Super Multi" drives can write to DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, and DVD+RW, but not DVD-RAM.
In addition, not all players and drives can read recorded discs. The basic problem is that recordable discs have different reflectivity than pressed discs (the pre-recorded kind you buy in a store), and not all players have been correctly designed to read them. Very roughly, DVD-R and DVD+R discs work in about 85% of existing drives and players, while DVD-RW and DVD+RW discs work in around 70%. The situation is steadily improving. In another few years compatibility problems will mostly be behind us, just as with CD-R (did you know that early CD-Rs had all kinds of compatibility problems?).

In a prior post we requested additional infomation and we still need that information to try to assist you. Go back and perform those tests and procedures and answer those questions and then post the results and anything else you learn along with the requested files and we'll take a look and see what we can do.

We appreciate the update and the new explanation of the problem, but we need that other information.

Thanks and good luck!

I think I am sure about using the right drivers for Vista Home Premium

Is there any way i can check?

As far as i know i am Using SP2 with my vista

I updated my toshiba L305D-S5900 bios from 1.50 to 1.90

I have downloaded the latest firm ware and installed it correctly i believe for the TS-L632H.

Device manager did not have any notification boxes and properties claim the device is working properly.

On the Dell website i found information about the device and it says it is compatible with all dvd's and cd's so disregard what i had stated previously.

There aren't likely separate drivers for Home Premium versus other versions of Vista - what I meant mostly was 32-bit vs. 64-bit. You need the ones for the appropriate OS bit-size. I have no idea what you installed so I don't know for sure, but the fact that there isn't an error message and that it says it is operating properly suggests you're OK there.

You are using SP2 - it's in one of the screenshots you included.

We can now cross outdated BIOS off our list (but not whether or not they are properly configured and I don't know how to do that as it varies from manufacturer-to-manufacturer and version-to-version).

Once again, we requested several tests and procedures (several times in fact) and have yet to see those results or hear anything about them. They are needed. Here's a link to the thread where they were first requested. PLEASE do them and include the files and the results and anything else helpful in your next reply. I appreciate you trying different things as you have (and probably would do so myself), but please ALSO do what we've requested. We can't do these things. We need you and if you want to get our best help, you need to help us by trying to follow our suggestions. http://www.vistax64.com/general-dis...p-cddvdw-ts-l632h-ata-device.html#post1296187.

Thanks for the update.

I hope this helps and look forward to the information and files and results requested in the referenced link.

Good luck!
