(Unofficial) drivers for Epson Perfection 1660 scanner

The only other thing that may help you is using our sister forum for Win 7 issues : Windows 7 Forums
But, i am pretty sure that your Printer just will not be able to work on Win 7 64 bit at all as the printer may be too old for newer software and to continue to use that printer is gonna require a 32 bit OS . sorry .

Thank you.
I have checked it out more than once in the past few hours....and I have complained to Epson as well.
I have tried old drivers, their 32 bit drivers, and drivers from later machines.
I've scanned every post in this thread and find more than 6 people who've used the "unofficial" driver successfully with Win7 64...and one person who has used a later driver (1680) that I will now try.

I myself , do not have that printer nor do i have , yet, the Win7 , thus, for one of us in here to zip up that driver and post it, is kinda slim, but, you never know who might stumble upon this Thread and have all the right combo to help out.

That driver didn't work for me. What did work was installiong the x64 driver from Epron for their Epson Expression 1680 Professional scanner instead. I had to force the Device Manager driver install to use the .inf file for the 1680.

Here's how:

Download and run the Epron file.
It will extract to here:
C:\EPSON\epson12203_twain_driver_and_epson_scan_utility_304a

Then cancel the install process.
Open Device Manager.
Right click the scanner (will have yellow "!")
click update driver, click click :Brownse my comp", click "let me pick from list..." , click have disk, then browse to here:
C:\EPSON\epson12203_twain_driver_and_epson_scan_utility_304a
pick any inf, and it should go from there.

I know it's been awhile since that info was posted, but I just got a scanner handed down to me (epson 1660), with no workable drivers (for windows 7 64). The other driver that was made up and uploaded to mediafire is now (obv) unavailable, so couldn't use that.
So THANK YOU so much.
It was simple and easy, and it worked.

I noticed there was a poster about 3 weeks ago who wished someone still had that driver that was posted to Mediafire.
I think you should try this, seems to work fine with my scanner.

Once again,
High Five DGittins.

I made a profile just to post a comment.

Did this method you used on Win764 allow you to use the TWAIN software...that app that would appear in Photoshop. Not sure what to call it.
Because what I did helped me to use the scanner...just not the scanner software. And if your method helped you to use the scanner software (TWAIN) then I will definately try this. Please confirm. Thanks. :)

Thanks for taking the time to register and upload these for us! I, and I'm sure there's many others, really appreciate you doing so :) If anyone comes across this page when looking for the drivers, then I ran a VirusTotal scan of the above file:

https://www.virustotal.com/file/c87...2553b852c2df8a76596582cd/analysis/1343505540/

As you can see, nothing was detected :)

Thanks again kuench!

Thanks Tom, good advice.
The Vista 64 drivers have allowed me to use the scanner, albeit without the Epson smart-stuff.
The other solution I found, using the Epson 12203.exe did not work.

That's great news Ian :) Make sure you hang on to that restore point though, that driver isn't designed to work on Windows 7 so it might kick up a fuss at some point. Fingers crossed though!

I had a bear of a time trying to find Vista x64 drivers for this scanner, so with some help from "Smoove Love" over at PlanetAMD64 forums, I was able to deconstruct the x64 drivers for the Perfection 2400 and create a driver install package for the 1660.

This driver set should install the printer with the correct name and in the the correct registry location.

While the drivers work fine for me, I take no responsibility for its effects on your system or registry. Use at your own risk/discretion. Drop me a PM if you have any questions!

I needed a place to upload the file, so I put it on Megaupload, hope that's ok!

Hi,

Does anyone please have a copy of the Vista x64 Driver? I have just upgraded from XP to Windows 7 64 Pro.

The Vista 64 driver should work.

I like my Epson 1660 and as it is working perfectly i have no wish to throw it away, so if anyone can provide me with the driver I would be most grateful. The Megaupload site is long since dead.

Many thanks
