My laptop (Sony Vaio) recently got blue screen and shut off. Now when i try to turn it on it says "BOOTmgr is missing". I tried to insert the intallation DVD for vista and install the OS over but when i go through the steps and click install windows it shows the loading screen (spinning circle on the cursor) and wont load anything. I also tried to do system recovery but that doesnt work either.

Any help would be appreciated

i have tried that but i still get the error. I have also partitioned my hard drive a while ago, and now in the system recovery options it shows that i have only 10 GB on C drive, which i think is the reason that i can't do a clean install.
:(

i am booting from the dvd. When i click "install now" it loads a screen that says "please wait" and the mouse/cursor turns into a hourglass, and it stays like that for hours ...

If you are booting from the DVD, sounds like hardware. LIkely the hard drive.
