Vista folders pane showing 2 of every folder

The pic is fairly self-explanatory, but as you can see on the left hand side in the folders pane, there is 2 of nearly every folder. Any idea what I have done and how to rectify this?

Oops sorry it doesn't show up too well on here. It can be viewed at http://i38.tinypic.com/xp1mjq.jpg

Hello Howie, and welcome to Vista Forums.

I believe it would be easier to create a new administrator account, then copy the contents of your old user account's C:\Users\(user-name) folders into the corresponding new accoun'ts C:\Users\(user-name) folders. If everything checks out ok, then you can delete the old user account while logged on to the new one.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

No you have grouped them by type. Click type in the column header and then untick the group option. You don't need another account.

Hello Frostmourne,

I believe he is referring to having doubles of all the user folders instead of the way they are sorted. ;)

Strange that blank files are showing up too. They might have been copied or redirected and somewhere something got confused.

The deselcting of Group didn't work, there was still the double-up happening, but I was obviously tired the other day and only just realised that on the main part of the pic where you've got Hard Disk Drives (2), Devices with Removable Storage (2), Other (21), and Folders (11), that all the folders in the Folders group are also in the "Other" group. Would I be right in assuming that normally they would not show up in the "Other" group and have somehow been duplicated into that section or something? Can I remove them from the "Other" group and have them remain in the Folders group?
